Operations Maintenance Supervisor $27.37 to $37.89 per hour

Purpose of this position:

To direct and plan activities and staff in the operation, construction, repair and maintenance of the City of Alabaster sanitary sewer collections system.

Duties

Supervise, train, direct, and evaluate direct reports; address employee concerns and problems.

Plan, coordinate, supervise and evaluate collections activities; provide guidance and direction to staff.

Coordinate with Construction and Development Supervisor and Environmental Services Manager to ensure all basic needs and functions of the collection system are maintained.

Assist in the development and ongoing management of a CMOM program for the collection system.

Respond to customer calls in a timely and professional manner.

Inspect, maintain, repair and operate all sewer lines and pump stations.

Supervise the repair, maintenance and replacement of motors, pumps and other equipment.

Install or replace equipment and machinery according to manufacturer’s instructions.

Inspect lift stations to ensure proper operation, diagnose problems, perform necessary repairs and report issues to Environmental Services Manager.

Ensure lift station grounds and easements are clean and neat.

Maintain parts and equipment inventory, complete purchase order requests for parts and supplies as needed, and keep records of preventive maintenance and repairs performed.

Assist the director in planning, budgeting and reporting as required.

Fill in for the Construction and Development Supervisor as needed.

Regular & predictable attendance is required.

Minimum Qualifications High school diploma or G.E.D. and five years or more of experience performing wastewater collection, operations. Must possess and maintain a valid Alabama Wastewater Operator Grade IC certification or higher. Must possess and maintain a valid Alabama driver's license. Experience operating excavation equipment and managing construction crews is preferred. CDL class A or B is preferred.

Physical Activities Required Frequent standing, walking, sitting, using hands to operate tools or controls, reaching with hands and arms, talking, hearing, climbing; occasional stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling.

Lifting: Up to 25 pounds occasionally.

Special vision requirements: Close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
