Job Overview
The Behavioral Health Counselor will provide therapeutic mental health services to adults, children, youth and families throughout Williamson and Burnet Counties.
The services provided will be in accordance with best‑practice standards, evidence-based interventions and individualized recovery planning, and the counselor will act only within the scope of their experience, training and license.
Counseling services will be provided in BTCS’ facilities/offices and/or may be provided in vivo or via Tele-Video, as appropriate and approved by the Counseling Supervisor.
This position may have the opportunity to participate in and/or lead community education, engagement and outreach events and programming (i.e. groups, workshops, classes, courses).
Therapies might include, but are not limited to: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Trauma‑Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy with Psychosis, Play Therapy, and Cognitive Processing Therapy.
The Behavioral Health Counselor will keep and manage counseling caseload spreadsheet and referral assignment lists.
The Counselor may also complete clinical assessment screenings, intake assessments, hospital discharge follow ups, substance use disorder brief counseling sessions and SBIRT assessments, as well as diagnostic mental health evaluations.
These services include assessing eligibility, developing recovery plans, coordinating services and completing crisis assessments when necessary.
The Counselor will track and complete trainings required of both the agency and their license.
The Counselor will complete documentation within 24 hours of service completion.
The Counselor will maintain a minimum of 55% of billable time per hours worked starting their 4th month of employment within the role.

Compensation Hourly Salary Range: $31.80 – $40.05
.75/hour – Bilingual
Up to $2.00/hour – Previous experience with a community center in Texas in a similar role
Up to $4.00/hour – Tenure with BTCS
$1.00/hour – PhD
.50/hour – LCDC
$200 Monthly Service Delivery Bonus

Credentials Minimum Qualifications
Master’s Degree in Social Work from an accredited college or university and current licensure by the State of Texas as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW)
Master’s Degree in Psychology, Counseling or related field and licensure by the State of Texas as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) or Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT)
Preferred Qualifications
LCSW clinical licensure preferred
Bilingual
Two years working with individuals with severe mental illness
Experience working across the lifespan, willingness to learn and provide CBT, TF‑CBT, CPT and/or play therapy in community clinic setting
Experience working with individuals, groups and families preferred
Excellent organizational, time management, and communication skills required
Willingness to work as a part of a multidisciplinary team
