Duties and Responsibilities

Supervise and coordinate the activities of assigned nursing and direct care staff.

Directing and reviewing the work of nursing staff.

Preparing and monitoring staffing schedules.

Developing daily staffing plans for nursing care.

Ensuring compliance with established standards of nursing care in accordance with State, federal, and accreditation agency requirements.

Minimum Qualifications

License and current registration as a registered professional nurse in New York State.

3 years of post-licensure clinical nursing experience working with individuals diagnosed with mental illness, addiction, or substance use disorders.

Substitution: Bachelor’s degree in nursing can substitute for 1 year of post-licensure experience.

Master’s degree in nursing can substitute for 2 years of post-licensure experience.

Competitive class appointment consideration for candidates within State Service if reachable on the current Nurse Administrator 1 Psychiatric or Nurse Administrator 2 Psychiatric eligible list.

Transfer to a competitive class position consideration for candidates within State Service with one year of permanent competitive or 55-b/55-c service in a title eligible for transfer under Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law.

Notes on compensation: The posted hiring rate includes the sum of the statutory hiring rate for PS&T Grade 22 ($82,326), an Increase Hiring Rate ($10,852), Geographic Pay Differential ($20,000). The posted job rate is the sum of the statutory job rate ($104,230), Geographic Pay Differential ($20,000).
