Direct Support Professional – Boys Community Residence
Level 1, Boys Community Residence – Catholic Charities of Broome County.
Salary Range $17–$19.13 per hour. FLSA (Non‑Exempt)
Qualifications Education & Experience
High school diploma or equivalency
Some experience in the human service field
Skills
Effective written and observational skills
Good interpersonal skills
Ability to work in a team approach
Ability to work with people at different functioning levels
Good problem‑solving skills
Ability to accommodate a flexible work schedule
Familiar with computer programs (e.g., Work, Excel)
Ability to climb stairs, bend, stoop, sit, stand, reach, and lift items weighing up to 40 lb.
Ability to legally operate a vehicle in NY State
Reporting to Supervisor
Major Functions
Act as a role model while always providing supervision to residents
Teach/assist in developing/completing ADL skills
Perform routine household maintenance and upkeep
Assist with planning/preparing meals and clean‑up as needed
Supervise resident’s self‑administration of medications and/or treatments per doctor’s orders and document in log if taken as prescribed
Provide transportation as needed
Assist in crisis management—crisis avoidance, de‑escalation and intervention and follow resident’s behavioral support plan
Participate in scheduled staff meetings, team planning meetings, and case reviews
Complete progress notes and documentation in daily log as required
Assist residents in working toward achievement of service plan goals & objectives
Understand and follow all program policies and procedures and OMH regulations
Report all household or resident sensitive situations to supervisor
Participate in and successfully complete all required staff training and development activities
Participate in intake and discharge planning
Participate in family meetings as requested
Represent the Agency and program in the community and with other service providers
Perform other related tasks as directed by supervisor
