Required License/Registration/Certification: Active Kentucky Registered Nurse (RN) license, Temporary Work Permit (TWP), Provisional License or active compact state Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing and American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support certification valid for at least 6 months after employment date.
Physical Requirements Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull 50-100 pounds daily and 25-50 pounds frequently; stand, walk, and sit for long periods of time. Exposure to communicable diseases, radiation hazards, and injury from patients or sharp instruments.
Shift Three, 12-hour shifts per week from 7pm until 7:30am; weekends and holidays required.
Job Summary Registered Nurses in the Adult Progressive Care Unit on 10.100 Pav A at Chandler Hospital provide care for adult patients who are moderately stable, have complex needs and require comprehensive care. Patient care will include frequent assessment of pulmonary, renal, cardiac, vascular and neurological conditions. The Adult Progressive Care Unit provides a more intensive level of care and monitoring than telemetry and medical/surgical units. As a part of this unit, the RN serves as an important component of the interdisciplinary progressive care team. This team is responsible for closely monitoring the patient's physiologic condition, performing frequent treatments as ordered by the physician, and providing a safe transition from intensive care to acute care.
Responsibilities Providing total, comprehensive, continuous and patient centered care, including assessment, documentation, planning, implementation, teaching, development, and evaluation of a comprehensive nursing plan of care; delivering direct patient care; ensuring patient satisfaction; training and delegating duties for Nursing Care Technicians; and adhering to University policies and procedures as well as federal, state and local regulations.
Skills / Knowledge / Abilities
Knowledge of Maslow's eight Basic Human Needs and the priority within Gordon's Functional Health Patterns Framework as well as Swanson's Caring model.
Superb direct patient care and critical thinking skills.
Basic computer navigation skills and working knowledge of the internet.
Ability to communicate professionally and respectfully with patients, families, co-workers and physicians.
Strong organizational, prioritization, and delegation skills.
Motivated, proactive, and confident in advocating for patients and their families.
Works well in a team and independently.
Does this position have supervisory responsibilities? No
