On the Move, Villa Espana Colonia, Texas, United States
TEJA: Emergency Residencies Programme for Artists and Cultural Practitioners Living in the West Bank and Jerusalem 2026 (Spain)
In-person mobility Open for: Individuals Artists, Curators, Producers & Managers, Researchers & Critics Cross-disciplinary In response to the enormous disruptions facing the Palestinian art and cultural scene, now besieged in an unacceptable and inhumane attack on its identity and existence, marked by the suspension of activities, deteriorating security, and economic pressure, TEJA will expand its residency programme in 2026, following the success of the Palestinian artist residencies in 2023, 2024, and 2025. This year, TEJA will host three new three-month residencies (between March and July 2026) dedicated to supporting artists and cultural professionals based in the West Bank and Jerusalem. In addition, in the second half of the year, TEJA will host three further residencies for Gazan artists, offered by invitation only (since Spain cannot facilitate evacuations from Gaza, these invitations will be coordinated through France). Selection will be made by the TEJA network in close collaboration with each host partner, prioritising first the artist’s personal and professional circumstances and then their suitability for the practices and themes of the host spaces. TEJA provides the following: Covering visa and insurance costs, as well as providing legal and financial assistance from Spain, to the extent possible, before the resident’s arrival. Covering round-trip travel expenses from Palestine to Madrid, Barcelona, or Córdoba. Providing accommodation and workspace in the assigned city. Offering creative and curatorial support during the residency. Providing legal and psychological counselling. Offering financial support that includes: Stipend: 1,300 EUR per month (paid monthly) and production expenses: up to 1,000 EUR per residency.
