The Robot Technician will act as a liaison between robotic welding operators and the Robotics Manager. The Robot Technician will perform production welding when not actively working on programs or support. All RLWS employees are expected to work in a manner in which quality of work and safety are top priorities. This is achieved by following safety procedures and work instructions, as well as keeping the work area clean and organized.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Provide support to robotic welding operators during production
Assist maintenance personnel during routine maintenance and troubleshooting of equipment failures
Perform touch-ups to robotic programs and make adjustments to data tables
Perform program mastering of new parts, create weld, weave, TAST and touch sensing schedules as necessary
Act as a mentor to robotic welding operators to ensure safe operation of robotic welding cells
Train robotic welding operators for basic programming touch up, trouble shooting of errors and performance of daily preventative maintenance
Train robot operators how to inspect and repair non-conforming welds from the robots in an efficient manner
Assist with employee audits and weld tests as necessary
Performs wire feed welding to satisfactory standards required to complete jobs. Uses many types of welding equipment set up in a variety of positions, such as flat, vertical, horizontal, and overhead
Must pass all necessary internal weld certifications associated with job responsibilities
Safely operates hand tools necessary to perform assigned tasks
Accurately use basic measuring equipment such as calipers, steel rules, etc.
Verifies position of metal components in assembly, using straightedge, combination square, calipers, and rule
Demonstrates a thorough understanding of blueprints and tolerances that relate to assigned tasks
Can safely operate the use of electric crane and fork truck
Provides high quality work and instills high quality standards with others
Keeps work area organized and as clean as possible while working and clean up all tooling, machinery
Ensures a safe and healthy working environment by enforcement of safety rules and guidelines. Identifying and correcting working hazards and coaching employees on proper safety practices
Operate area of responsibility consistent with lean business practices.
Ensures lean principles are maintained and sustain compliance and actively participates on lean teams and events
Maintains inventory accuracy by providing cycle counting, BOM, routing and work order status accuracy. Identify root cause and eliminate
This individual must be a self-starter and motivated
Ensure all suggested routing changes and set-up changes are coordinated with other departments
Ensure that all employees clean up after themselves. Includes cleanliness of lunchrooms, carts, rags, machines, floors and verifies items are kept in an orderly fashion
Ensure compliance of ISO requirements
Notifies direct supervisor of any equipment or tooling that is damaged or not working properly

Education and Experience Two to three years cutting and welding operations on structural steel experience Completion of Robotic welding programming basic course through Lincoln Electric, Genesis Systems Group or other accredited location Working knowledge of the practices, materials, methods, and tools of the welding trade Working knowledge of the hazards and safety precaution of the trade, and of the properties of ferrous and non-ferrous metals Skill in the use and care of tools and equipment Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions Excellent communications skills Oxygen-acetylene cutting equipment skills Must be comfortable with technology Must exhibit confidence and patience while coaching new employees Certificates, licenses, training, or other job-related requirements Pass practical welding tests as part of the pre-employment process.
