We are seeking a skilled and compassionate
Wound Nurse
to join our team. In this important role, you will provide specialized care to residents with wounds, ensuring their comfort, dignity, and healing. If you’re a dedicated nurse with a passion for wound care and teamwork, we welcome your application.
Qualifications
Current and valid license as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) or Registered Nurse (RN) in the state of employment
Experience in wound care and long-term care (preferred)
Strong documentation, assessment, and communication skills
Ability to work independently and collaboratively
Key Responsibilities Wound Care Duties
Obtain and update physician orders for wound care treatments
Administer treatments and monitor healing progress
Document wound status weekly (stage, size, depth, color, drainage, odor, resident response)
Observe and document skin condition and changes
Notify residents, families, physicians, and team members of changes
Review and revise care plans as needed
Participate in care planning meetings and MDS updates
Report wound status to the Director of Nursing
Provide wound care education and in-service training to staff
Adhere to infection control protocols and safety standards
Maintain care within budgetary guidelines
Participate in State Department of Health inspections and facility committees
Complete management reports and special assignments as directed
General Nursing Duties
Demonstrate responsibility, accountability, and dependability in all aspects of care
Communicate effectively with nursing staff and other departments
Provide care in accordance with nursing standards, regulations, and facility policies
Uphold resident rights and dignity
Participate in Risk Management and interdisciplinary meetings
Physical Requirements
Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift for extended periods
Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds
Manual dexterity to operate medical equipment and perform treatments
Visual and auditory acuity to assess conditions and respond to emergencies
Ability to work in a fast-paced, emotionally demanding environment
