Job Summary and Qualifications The Assistant Vice President (AVP) is a visionary leader who provides strategic leadership, oversight, and program development for independent hospitals, non‑acute healthcare entities and integrated delivery networks (IDN) that supports clinical integration and supply expense management. This role provides strategic leadership for value analysis, clinical resource management, and evidence‑based product standardization and optimization of the GPO contract portfolio. The AVP will drive cost, quality, and outcomes (CQO) initiatives through advanced analytics, data‑driven decision‑making, and collaborative partnerships with executive leadership, physicians, and clinical stakeholders. The role requires deep healthcare consulting expertise, program development, and execution, along with a proven track record in successfully leading large‑scale transformation efforts in value analysis and supply chain optimization.
Additionally, this role supervises and mentors the Clinical Resource Directors/Managers, ensuring the successful execution of initiatives. The AVP collaborates with executive leadership and key stakeholders to drive a culture of continuous improvement and efficiency in supply expense management.
The AVP will also work with the VP to develop and execute the organization’s strategic priorities as well as account planning, developing proposals, preparing SOWs, RFP/RFI responses and supporting pursuits by leading discussions related to member needs and available solutions.
What you will do in this role This role serves as a leader for the Performance Solutions team and partners with the account.
Strategic Leadership & Program Development
Develop and execute a high‑impact, scalable system‑wide Value Analysis and Clinical Resource Management program that aligns with the organization’s strategic objectives and industry leading practices.
Serve as a transformational leader, guiding teams through change, fostering innovation, and creating sustainable cost savings initiatives without compromising clinical outcomes.
Build and scale a best‑in‑class value analysis structure that integrates evidence‑based decision‑making, clinical engagement, and supply chain optimization.
Lead the development and implementation of enterprise‑wide product standardization, utilization management, and supply chain clinical integration strategies.
Establish and refine policies, procedures, and governance structures to ensure consistency, efficiency, and regulatory compliance.
Consult, stakeholder engagement and clinical collaboration: Act as a trusted advisor and subject matter expert in value analysis, providing executive‑level consulting to senior leadership, physician leaders, and clinical teams.
Collaborate with clients and support the implementation of action plans to improve financial and operational performance while maintaining or improving care delivery and outcomes.
Lead client discussions and meetings to present analysis and facilitate client decision‑making.
Facilitate interdisciplinary collaboration between supply chain, nursing, physicians, and clinical leadership to drive adoption of evidence‑based product decisions.
Lead the development and execution of educational initiatives to promote value analysis methodologies, CQO principles, and data‑driven decision‑making.
Communicate with the GPO Account Team regularly to monitor opportunities, complete account planning, qualify leads, provide presentation materials, and provide awareness and education relative to services capabilities and value creation.
Participate in sales pursuits, create proposals, and provide input to presentation materials developed to support sales and marketing process.
Represent the organization at industry forums and contribute to national thought leadership in healthcare value analysis.
Financial & Operational Excellence
Develop and implement enterprise‑wide strategies to optimize supply expense management, clinical efficiency, and financial stewardship.
Utilize advanced analytics and benchmarking tools to assess product utilization, cost savings opportunities, and supply chain performance metrics.
Establish clear KPIs and dashboard reporting to monitor financial impact, operational efficiencies, and value‑based purchasing outcomes.
Identify and execute high‑impact savings initiatives through contract optimization, supplier engagement, and GPO contract portfolio management.
Ensure compliance with regulatory standards and industry leading practices in product selection, procurement, and utilization.
Execution & Performance Management
Lead complex, multi‑disciplinary projects with a focus on data‑driven decision‑making, evidence‑based medicine, and total cost management.
Anticipate and address industry trends, regulatory changes, and market pressures.
Apply Lean, Six Sigma, and project management methodologies to drive continuous process improvement and operational excellence.
Guide teams through effective change management strategies, ensuring adoption and long‑term sustainability of value analysis initiatives.
Develop and mentor a high‑performing team, fostering a culture of excellence, accountability, and professional growth.
Partner with IT and business intelligence teams to advance data‑driven decision‑making and develop predictive analytics tools for value analysis.
Design, optimize, and lead assessments to identify gaps in efficiencies and leading practices.
Develop action plans for clients that will address identified gaps.
Qualifications You Will Need
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Health Administration, Nursing, or a related field required.
Master’s degree (MBA, MHA, MSN) highly preferred.
Minimum 7 years of progressive experience in healthcare supply chain, value analysis, clinical resource management, or healthcare consulting.
Prior successful consulting experience in Value Analysis, demonstrating the ability to develop and execute programs that drive results.
Proven track record of developing and executing large‑scale value analysis programs within an IDN or healthcare consulting firm.
Strong financial acumen with expertise in supply expense management, contract negotiation, and healthcare analytics.
Advanced knowledge of healthcare regulations, evidence‑based medicine, and value‑based purchasing principles.
Demonstrated success in leading cross‑functional teams and influencing executive stakeholders in complex healthcare environments.
Strong financial acumen with experience in budget management, cost analysis, and ROI modeling.
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel); experience with data analytics tools.
Strong track record of delivering measurable operational and financial results in complex, multi‑hospital healthcare organizations.
Exceptional communication, negotiation, and relationship‑building skills with executive leaders, clinicians, and industry partners.
Demonstrated ability in large‑scale change management.
Demonstrated leadership and mentoring ability.
Demonstrated sales pursuit management and deliverable creation; 4+ years of selling services preferred.
Position requires at least 50% travel.
Certificates / License
Maintains current licensure/credentials in his/her clinical specialty as applicable.
Certification in Value Analysis Healthcare (CVAH) from AHVAP preferred.
Project Management Professional (PMP) certification preferred.
Change Management certification preferred.
