Sentara Leigh Hospital is hiring a Clinical Nurse Manager, Registered Nurse (RN) for our Intermediate Care Unit (Stepdown).
City/State: Norfolk, VA Work Shift: First (Days) Hours: Full Time (40 hr/week)
Overview The Registered Nursing (RN) is responsible to perform a competent level of nursing care as demonstrated by the critical thinking model known as the nursing process. The standards of practice (assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, coordination of care – teaching and health promotion and evaluation) along with the standards of professional performance (ethics, culturally congruent practice, communication, collaboration, leadership, education, evidence‑based practice / nursing research, quality, evaluation, resource utilization, and environmental health) encompass the actions and foundation of professional nursing. The RN possesses clinical knowledge and skills to meet standards as required by specific clinical areas.
Department Overview The Intermediate Care Unit (IMCU) is a 24‑bed stepdown unit for patients with medical and surgical diagnoses. The predominant patient population includes but is not limited to acute CVAs, ventilator dependent patients – weaning and non‑weaning, GI bleeds, chronic renal failure, newly diagnosed and chronic diabetes, general abdominal surgery, thoracic surgery and those diagnoses that require frequent monitoring.
Education
Bachelor of Science Nursing, BSN (Required) or MSN (Preferred)
Certification/Licensure
Registered nursing License (Required)
BLS required within 90 days of hire
Experience
2 years experience in a support leadership RN position, i.e. Unit Coordinator, Team Lead, or other like position may be accepted in lieu of 1 year formal management experience. Meets any requirements defined by specific specialty.

About Sentara Leigh Hospital Sentara Leigh Hospital, located in Norfolk, VA, is a 274‑bed acute care facility that opened in 1903 and relocated to its present site in 1977. Our hospital completed a renovation in 2016, including two new patient towers, a beautiful atrium, and a multi‑story parking garage. Sentara Leigh Hospital includes a dedicated Orthopedic Hospital providing patients access to a full continuum of orthopedic care, from the pre‑operative phase and surgery to rehabilitation and home care services.
