Job Summary As a Registered Nurse in the Operating Room (RN), you will be a pivotal healthcare professional, delivering compassionate, high‑quality care that truly impacts our patients' well‑being and recovery. You will provide individualized, comprehensive care, making critical assessments, performing skilled procedures, and meticulously implementing patient care plans. Collaboration with an interdisciplinary team will help focus on optimal patient outcomes.

Responsibilities

Assessment: Admission and ongoing assessment of the patient’s condition; provides nursing care to meet physical, psychological, and spiritual needs; notifies the doctor of changes requiring attention.

Planning: Designs, directs, evaluates, and documents the plan of care; patient/family teaching; transition of care plan to include safe and appropriate discharge. Works with other clinical disciplines to meet specialized patient care and discharge needs.

Implementation: Prepares patients physically, psychologically, and spiritually for treatments, surgeries, and diagnostic studies to help reduce anxiety. Reports significant changes to Charge Nurse/Team Leader or physician. Implements patient safety initiatives and protocols including medication safety practices, physician orders, and consult notifications.

Evaluation: Reassesses patients at appropriate intervals following interventions; notifies physician to modify interventions; adjusts nursing care to meet changing needs.

Report Skills: Gives and receives report using Bedside Shift Report, including family participation; provides accurate and comprehensive report to the oncoming shift to establish continuity of care.

Environment & Patient Safety: Maintains patient and work environment to maximize safe working space; promptly removes used and soiled equipment, linen, etc.; incorporates national and organizational goals to improve quality, patient safety, and satisfaction.

Qualifications

Required

Associates in Nursing or Diploma, at least one (1) year of RN experience upon hire.

Demonstrated competence in Registered Nurse I performance expectations or meets experience requirements upon hire.

Registered Nurse: TX, upon hire.

Basic Life Support (CPR) within 14 days.

Preferred

Bachelor of Nursing, upon hire.

Where You'll Work The Woodlands Hospital, a primary and secondary care hospital serving North Harris and Montgomery Counties. Clinical services include cardiovascular, diagnostic imaging, women’s services (digital mammography and bone density studies), neurosciences, pediatric care (Newborn and Level II nurseries), surgery, pathology, pulmonary services, and sleep disorders. Clinical affiliations include The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center’s Radiation Treatment Center and Texas Children’s Hospital.

Pay Range $33.00 - $52.80 per hour
