Licensed Mental Health Social Worker (MHP) or Counselor - Full Time
Join NaphCare, Inc. as a Licensed Mental Health Social Worker (MHP) or Counselor in the Hillsborough County Jail, Tampa, Florida. In this unique correctional setting, you will collaborate with officers and medical staff to provide counseling and mental health care to inmates with complex needs.
Responsibilities
Assess, diagnose, and treat residents for mental illnesses, substance use disorders, and behavioral issues.
Conduct mental health evaluations, progress notes, individual and group counseling, and treatment plans.
Collaborate with medical, mental‑health, and correctional staff to maintain quality care and a safe environment.
Participate in training and educational activities related to patient care and security personnel.
Document case files, prepare reports, and contribute to hearings.
Develop and facilitate patient education and treatment programs.
Ensure compliance with site‑specific policies, ACA, NCCHC standards, and all legal requirements.
Qualifications
Minimum 3 years of clinical experience in mental‑health or acute‑care settings; correctional experience preferred.
Knowledge of diagnosing and treating co‑occurring mental‑health and substance‑abuse disorders, discharge planning, and basic psychotropic medication principles.
Ability to remain calm under pressure and develop interventions for patients.
Strong communication skills for building rapport and coordinating care.
Excellent organizational skills for maintaining treatment plans and progress notes.
Commitment to confidentiality, professionalism, and adherence to a code of conduct.
Successful completion of a criminal background check and drug screening.
Physical Capabilities Ability to stand for long periods, lift and move patients up to 50 pounds, bend, squat, reach, push, pull, walk significant distances, and perform physically demanding tasks such as CPR, while maintaining balance and endurance throughout the shift.
