Responsibilities
Provide psychotherapy and counseling therapies including group, individual, and family therapy for patients with psychiatric and substance abuse issues.
Ensure accurate and timely patient documentation.
Conduct individual and group therapy sessions to educate patients about psychological, emotional, or substance abuse problems.
Actively involve in treatment planning process.
Provide family session counseling to all patients to ensure appropriate communication and involvement of family members and support groups.
Communicate proactively with clients, families, and outside referral sources.
Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team including physicians, utilization review, and nursing staff members.
Communicate to utilization review on treatment and length of stay issues.
Complete appropriate paperwork for clients in a timely, accurate, and complete manner.
Demonstrate crisis intervention and de‑escalation skills; assist others to ensure patient safety during crisis situations.
Complete accurate assessments of patients utilizing clinical skills; assist care coordination department as requested.
Complete all documentation thoroughly, timely, and in accordance with hospital standards.
Maintain confidentiality; complete releases appropriately; demonstrate knowledge of HIPAA regulations.
Be knowledgeable of all clinical regulations, including JCAHO, Medicaid, and state and federal laws.
Participate in discharge, transition, and after‑care planning treatment processes.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications & Requirements
Education: Master’s degree in social work, counseling, or relevant state licensure required.
Experience: Prior experience with psychiatric and chemical dependency patients.
License: Current unencumbered clinical license per state practice guidelines.
Additional Requirements: CPR and CPI certified within 30 days of employment; flexible hours may be required.
