Controller needed for a global automotive technology leader in engine-based fuel and air management systems. Provides leadership and oversight of all functions within the finance and accounting department. Works closely with the Managing Director to drive business results and provide strategic direction. Oversees financial department staff in day-to-day operations.
Controller Responsibilities:
Manage all finance and accounting operations
Oversee and own the monthly financial close process, including Balance Sheet reconciliations
Prepare and publish timely monthly financial statements with comparison to budget/forecast
Coordinate and direct the preparation of budgets, financial forecasts, and variance reports
Manage cash flow
Ensure compliance with local authorities/agencies, statutory law, and financial regulations
Prepare documents relating to internal controls for financial management in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
Coordinate year-end and preliminary audit processes
Research and understand Technical Accounting Standards to adopt and implement as needed
Streamline accounting functions and operations
Controller Requirements:
Bachelors Degree in Accounting or Finance
CPA or MBA desired
Management-level experience
10 years experience in general accounting and financial statement preparation
Manufacturing experience is a plus
Additional Considerations:
US GAAP accounting and compliance expertise
Financial statement preparation skills
Ability to lead a finance team of 35 people
Ability to research technical solutions for accounting issues
Highly detail-oriented, organized, and eager to learn
Proficiency in Microsoft products
SAP or JD Edwards skills a plus but not required
Public Accounting experience required, including CPA
