REGISTERED NURSE – FIFTH EAST (FT Nights)
Join Riverside Healthcare as a Registered Nurse to deliver high-quality, compassionate care at our acute care unit in Kankakee, Illinois. This full‑time night shift role requires experience in a fast-paced environment, commitment to patient‑centered care, and flexibility with various assignments.
Overview Riverside Healthcare seeks a skilled RN to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care while collaborating with physicians and interdisciplinary teams. Candidates should have strong clinical, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
Responsibilities
Conduct comprehensive patient assessments and develop individualized care plans.
Administer medications, treatments, and procedures within scope and monitor responses.
Continuously monitor vitals, document observations, and adjust care plans promptly.
Coordinate care with physicians and other professionals; participate in interdisciplinary meetings and discharge planning.
Educate patients and families considering cultural and age factors; provide support and resources.
Maintain accurate and detailed documentation, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.
Engage patients to promote comfort and trust, addressing concerns with empathy.
Contribute to a collaborative work environment, offering constructive feedback and open communication.
Respond to medical emergencies, performing life‑saving procedures as needed.
Adhere to infection control protocols, implementing standard precautions and nurse‑driven measures.
Complete required continuing education for acute stroke units and maintain annual hospital‑based certifications.
Assist with orientation and training of new staff members and students.
Participate in quality improvement initiatives, evidence‑based practice, and research when applicable.
Qualifications and Experience
Minimum two years of acute care nursing experience preferred.
Graduate of an approved school of nursing.
Current Registered Nurse license in Illinois.
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; PALS required for pediatric unit, ACLS for ICU within one year of hire.
For new graduate RNs starting after 1/1/25, earn a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) within three years.
Preferred: BSN degree, professional specialty certification, Basic ECG recognition skills.
Employee Health Requirements Exposure to chemicals, blood and body fluids, and airborne pathogens. Use of protective equipment and universal precautions required. Sensory requirements: speech, vision, hearing, touch. Physical activity: sitting, standing, walking, lifting up to 60 lbs, bending, reaching, etc. Environmental factors: internal temperature within normal range, average lighting, noise, humidity.
Pay Range USD $34.18 – $44.45 per hour.
