Integrated Mental Health Therapist: Primary Care/Pediatrics/Women’s Health, Pierce County
Brought into a multidisciplinary team in primary care settings, the Integrated Mental Health Therapist (IMHT) provides evidence‑based behavioral health services within MultiCare Health System’s Office of Primary Care. The IMHT works closely with primary care providers and a psychiatric consultant to assess, plan, and intervene to promote symptom reduction and optimal patient outcomes.

Responsibilities
Assess patient’s symptoms and create a customized treatment plan based on individual needs
Screen patients for behavioral health disorders using tools such as PHQ‑9, GAD‑7, Columbia Suicide Risk Assessment, or others as required
Monitor patients for changes in clinical symptoms and treatment side effects, aiming for symptom reduction
Support psychotropic medication management prescribed by PCPs, focusing on adherence, side effects, and effectiveness
Track patient follow‑up and clinical outcomes using a registry to identify and re‑engage patients
Facilitate care plan changes for patients not improving, including medication or psychosocial adjustments or appropriate referrals
Manage behavioral health crises as they arise in primary care
Provide flexible behavioral health services to patients on and off current caseload through scheduled appointments and immediate interventions during warm handoffs with primary care providers
Position Summary The Licensed Integrated Mental Health Therapist‑BHN independently provides assessments, treatment/care planning, and psychosocial therapy within a primary care clinic for a diverse population of preventative, acute care, and chronic disease management patients. The incumbent uses a variety of theoretical treatment models and excellent communication skills to work within a primary care/chronic disease management team with limited supervision, documents treatment, and stays current on community resources for linkage and advocacy.
Requirements
Master’s degree from an accredited institution in Social Work, Counseling, Marriage & Family Therapy, or a related field
One of the higher credentials defined within HB 1724: Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist (LMFT), Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC), or SW Independent Clinical Lic (LICSW)
Minimum two (2) years of experience in a behavioral health setting
