Integrated Mental Health Therapist: Primary Care/Pediatrics/Women’s Health, Pierce County Brought into a multidisciplinary team in primary care settings, the Integrated Mental Health Therapist (IMHT) provides evidence‑based behavioral health services within MultiCare Health System’s Office of Primary Care. The IMHT works closely with primary care providers and a psychiatric consultant to assess, plan, and intervene to promote symptom reduction and optimal patient outcomes.

Responsibilities

Assess patient’s symptoms and create a customized treatment plan based on individual needs

Screen patients for behavioral health disorders using tools such as PHQ‑9, GAD‑7, Columbia Suicide Risk Assessment, or others as required

Monitor patients for changes in clinical symptoms and treatment side effects, aiming for symptom reduction

Support psychotropic medication management prescribed by PCPs, focusing on adherence, side effects, and effectiveness

Track patient follow‑up and clinical outcomes using a registry to identify and re‑engage patients

Facilitate care plan changes for patients not improving, including medication or psychosocial adjustments or appropriate referrals

Manage behavioral health crises as they arise in primary care

Provide flexible behavioral health services to patients on and off current caseload through scheduled appointments and immediate interventions during warm handoffs with primary care providers

Position Summary The Licensed Integrated Mental Health Therapist‑BHN independently provides assessments, treatment/care planning, and psychosocial therapy within a primary care clinic for a diverse population of preventative, acute care, and chronic disease management patients. The incumbent uses a variety of theoretical treatment models and excellent communication skills to work within a primary care/chronic disease management team with limited supervision, documents treatment, and stays current on community resources for linkage and advocacy.

Requirements

Master’s degree from an accredited institution in Social Work, Counseling, Marriage & Family Therapy, or a related field

One of the higher credentials defined within HB 1724: Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist (LMFT), Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC), or SW Independent Clinical Lic (LICSW)

Minimum two (2) years of experience in a behavioral health setting

Pay and Benefit Expectations Competitive salary ($39.46 – $56.78 USD) plus medical, dental, retirement, and paid time off. Compensation is influenced by skill set, experience, and certifications. If the position is union‑contracted, pay will reflect the appropriate step on the pay scale.
