Examiner Nurse Practitioner – Loyal Source Government Services
Position Purpose As an Examiner, you will conduct Compensation & Pension (C&P) Examinations for Veterans applying for disability compensation from the Department of Veteran Affairs (VA) in relation to their in‑service injury claims. The role involves reviewing claims, performing focused assessments of claimed injuries, reviewing medical records, and potentially rendering a medical opinion based on the record review and completed C&P exam.
Pay $106,873.60 – $196,873.60 (annual salary)
Responsibilities
Conduct comprehensive medical disability examinations, including review of medical history, physical examination, and assessment of functional impact.
Analyze medical records, diagnostic test results, and other documentation to understand the Veteran’s health condition.
Render objective medical opinions regarding the extent of the veteran’s health issues and their impact on work and daily activities.
Use the VA case management system to organize workload, submit findings, and correspond with Quality Assurance teams.
Collaborate with other healthcare professionals and specialists to obtain additional information as needed.
Document examination findings accurately in medical opinions and recommendations following VA guidelines.
Partner with Loyal Source departments to leverage resources and meet deadlines.
Manage scheduling and confirmation of availability for C&P exams, ensuring timely service to Veterans.
Ensure compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and quality standards for disability examinations.
Maintain confidentiality and HIPAA compliance for all patient information.
Complete all required VA training and keep up to date with program requirements.
Qualifications
Graduate of an accredited nursing school and a valid, unrestricted Nurse Practitioner license in the United States.
At least 1 year of experience as a Nurse Practitioner.
Experience conducting medical disability examinations or related work (preferred).
Basic Life Support certification required.
Competence in MS Office, PDFs, web‑based platforms, and electronic medical record systems.
Strong analytical, communication, organizational, and time‑management skills.
Empathy and a patient‑centered approach to evaluations.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast‑paced environment.
Authorization to work in the United States as a federal contractor.
Reasoning Ability Ability to apply common sense, follow detailed instructions, and handle problem situations involving a few variables.
Technological Ability Proficiency with MS Word, MS Outlook, PDF handling, web‑based platforms, and electronic medical record systems. Familiarity with Teams and learning management systems is preferred.
Physical Requirements Prolonged periods of standing and sitting at a desk, with occasional lifting of up to 15 pounds. Full range of motion and sensory functions are required for physical examinations.
Travel Requirements 10% travel to support other clinics; additional travel may be required for training or company events.
