Position Summary
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Ultrasound Technologist – Outpatient Radiology – Per Diem – Garden City. In this role, the successful candidate will be responsible for the independent operation of sonographic equipment, and for performing diagnostic examinations using sonography. The Ultrasound Technologist may be responsible (depending on work location) for daily operations of the sonographic laboratory, patient scheduling, equipment maintenance, reports of equipment failures, and quality assessment (QA). The sonographer maintains a high standard of medical ethics at all times and is self‑motivated to increase their level of understanding and knowledge of the field, disease(s), and new procedures as they evolve.
Job Responsibilities
Performs other duties as assigned.
Operates ultrasound equipment to take diagnostic images of specific body areas or parts as ordered; produces diagnostic images for interpretation by physician; demonstrates a thorough knowledge of ultrasound equipment.
Prepares patient using proper positioning or immobilizing patients and giving them proper instructions regarding procedure; quality review of the technologist’s images fall within guidelines of departmental SOP; technologist is observed to give clear and concise instruction to the patient before beginning an exam.
Accurately utilizes the PACS system to make images available to the physician for interpretation; technologist creates a minimum number of exceptions.
Accurately utilizes systems; enters proper exam coding; arrives and completes exams in a timely fashion.
Assists in the care and maintenance of facilities, equipment, and supplies; reports any equipment problems or malfunctions to the supervisor in a timely fashion.
Instructs and supervises ultrasound students in a clinical practicum; works with the ultrasound student to perform exams as well as performing individual image evaluation.
Minimum Qualifications
Technical Diploma Graduate of an accredited two‑year ultrasound program.
Registered Diagnostic Sonographer or Registered Vascular Technologist.
Ability to effectively operate sonographic equipment.
Ability to evaluate sonograms to acquire appropriate diagnostic information.
Ability to follow established departmental procedures.
Ability to work efficiently and cope with emergency situations.
Emotional and physical health sufficient to meet the demands of the position.
Strength sufficient to lift some patients, move heavy equipment on wheels (up to approx. 500 lbs), and to move patients in wheelchairs and stretchers.
Ability to maintain prolonged arm positions necessary for scanning.
Preferred Qualifications
Associate’s degree in a related field.
3–5 years of ultrasound experience.
3–5 years experience in OB/GYN, small parts, and/or vascular ultrasound.

The salary range for this role is $60.00 – $60.00 per hour. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need.
