Certified Medical Assistant Texas Children's Hospital (Texas Children's Pediatrics) – Hill Country, Austin, TX

We are searching for a Certified Medical Assistant to work in a fast‑paced pediatric setting caring for patients ages 0–18 and adults as necessary. The role involves assessing and providing direct patient care, collecting patient and family data, administering medication, assisting providers during examinations, and supporting patients/families in self‑management of health.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

Assist in the collection of patient/family data including biophysical, psychosocial, developmental, cultural, and environmental information.

Collect and document vital signs, BMI, height/weight, and reason for visit with 100% accuracy.

Update documentation on current medications, allergies, and other information per practice protocol, including care at other locations since last visit.

Prepare patients for examination and assist providers during treatments, examinations, and testing as directed.

Complete and document treatments and interventions within the scope of practice.

Document and administer medication and immunizations as directed by the physician.

Support patients/families in self‑management of their health through patient education.

Use a thermometer, scales, sphygmomanometer/stethoscope, butterfly needles, hearing/vision screening equipment, pulse oximetry, tympanometry, basic laboratory equipment (microscope, centrifuge, hematology analyzer) and specimen collection.

Demonstrate fundamental knowledge of pediatric assessment and treatment.

Undergo respiratory fit testing in compliance with occupational health and safety standards.

Skills & Requirements

High School Diploma or GED.

Graduation from a medical assistant or emergency medical technician program, or documentation from a licensing authority confirming that medical assistant/emergency medical technician education is not required for certification.

One of the following national certifications/registrations:

CCMA – Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (NHA)

CMA-AAMA – Certified Medical Assistant (AAMA)

CMA-C – Clinical Medical Assistant Certification (AMCA)

NCMA – National Certified Medical Assistant (NCCT)

NRCMA – National Registered Certified Medical Assistant (NAHP)

RMA-AAH – Registered Medical Assistant (American Allied Health)

RMA-AAMP – Registered Medical Assistant (American Association of Medical Personnel)

RMA-AMT – Registered Medical Assistant (American Medical Technologist)

RMA-ARMA – Registered Medical Assistant (American Registry of Medical Assistants)

EMT (Texas Department of State Health Services)

EMT‑A (Advanced EMT, Texas DHS)

EMT‑B (Basic EMT, Texas DHS)

EMT‑I (Intermediate EMT, Texas DHS)

EMT‑P (Paramedic, Texas DHS)

LIC PAR (Licensed Paramedic, Texas DHS)

Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.

One year of related experience or more is preferred.
