Position Summary Collaborates with surgery scheduling and leadership teams, surgical supply department, sterile processing department, charge specialist team, and supply chain to ensure that the proper surgical supplies and equipment are available, accurately charged, and charted. Demonstrates a working knowledge of specialized instrumentation and equipment required for a variety of specialty procedures, and competency to operate all specialty instruments, supplies, and equipment.

Key Responsibilities

Timely procure and allocate limited supply resources that are mission‑critical to surgical services, collaborating with other facilities.

Collaborate with Surgical Materials Management to assure point‑of‑use contractual compliance on all non‑stock items and services.

Resolve supply issues related to invoicing, product handling requirements, surgical documentation, and product integrity.

Assist in ordering and stocking specialty supplies under the direction of the management team and department guidelines.

Participate in meetings with surgical clinical staff, materials management, and physicians to discuss utilization of products, shared resources, and new technologies.

Work with supply/business managers to identify product, equipment, service, and utilization saving opportunities.

Use EPIC to monitor and track the disposition of non‑stock items specific to product, physician, and patient.

Prioritize the needs of the various steps associated with surgical procedures.

Prepare and conduct technical performance‑oriented training related to specialty services and equipment.

Assist with process improvement activities and contribute to organizational effectiveness.

Serve as a resource expert.

Maintain attendance and compliance with Orlando Health policies, ADA, FMLA, and federal, state, and local standards.

Collaborate with surgery scheduling to allocate shared resources on future bookings and ensure accurate case cards are chosen.

Assist with preference card building for current and new surgeons as needed.

Receive case tag audits and work with surgical staff to ensure accurate documentation.

Assist the charge management team with all issues related to posting charges for supply items and services.

Participate in process improvement activities (e.g., first‑case‑on‑time starts, turnover time).

Arrange availability of needed equipment and instrumentation with vendors and vendors/reps; stay up to date on new products and coordinate vendor training.

Assist in department needs in a surgical Technologist III role.

Complete all Orlando Health mandatory education and maintain professional development and continuing education.

Education / Training Graduate of a surgical tech or nursing program with formal clinical training in surgery via nursing or surgical technology.

Licensure / Certification

Commensurate clinical training (e.g., CST, RN).

Current BLS/Healthcare Provider certification.

Experience Four (4) years progressive healthcare experience in a surgery department; extensive experience with medical products, manufacturers, and vendors. Computer application experience with Affinity, Microsoft Office, Lawson, and other applicable corporate software. A bachelor’s degree in business, healthcare administration or related field may substitute for up to two (2) years of the required experience.
