Athletic Trainer - Outreach - MPS - Full-Time

The Athletic Trainer works collaboratively with physicians and their support teams within the Orthopedic Service Line to provide direct patient care for pediatric and adolescent populations in clinical, school‑based, and community outreach settings. The Athletic Trainer primarily assists in the evaluation of patients, development and communication of a customized plan of care, and administration of patient educational content under the direction of the attending provider. Practices within the domains established by the Board of Certification: prevention, assessment, treatment, and rehabilitation of orthopedic injuries and illnesses for patients, in accordance with experiential knowledge and evidence‑based guidelines.
Responsibilities
Evaluate patients and develop individualized care plans.
Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and support staff to implement treatment protocols.
Provide injury prevention education to patients and families.
Maintain accurate documentation of assessments, interventions, and outcomes.
Assist in functional assessments and progress evaluations.
Work within school‑based and community outreach settings to deliver care.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Athletic Training required; Master’s degree preferred.
Board of Certification (BOC) in Athletic Training required.
State of Wisconsin Athletic Training licensure (or obtain within 30 days of hire) required.
One year of athletic training experience with adolescent or pediatric patients preferred.
Orthopaedic Technologist Certification (OTC) or willingness to obtain OTC certification as requested.
Current CPR certification – Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers through American Heart or American Red Cross.
Ability to work with a diverse patient population to ensure a culturally competent environment.
Certifications / Licenses
BLS‑Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider – American Heart Association / American Red Cross / National Safety Council.
