Under general supervision of the School Nurse, administer first aid to injured and ill students; with training by the Nurse, perform delegable nursing services for students according to the Nevada School Nurse Regulation and Advisory Opinion, Nevada Revised Statutes, Chapter 632; notify School Nurse, appropriate school authorities, parents/guardian or parent/guardian's designee in the event of changes in student health status; maintain student health and immunization records. Incumbent performs related work as required. Responsibilities

Render first aid to injured and ill students according to Student Health Services policies and standards of the American Heart Association or American Red Cross. Administer CPR in cases of a life‑threatening emergency, cardiac or respiratory arrest. Assist students with medication as prescribed by a physician and approved by a parent/guardian; perform delegable nursing procedures such as clean intermittent catheterization, tracheostomy care, diapering, and toileting. Conduct basic vision and hearing screening for students. Monitor and audit student immunization records for school‑required compliance. Refer students to School Nurse and follow Student Health Services policies and procedures for all student health‑related issues. Update and maintain student health records; maintain accident and illness documentation; perform general clerical duties. Input student health data into the student health database. Perform periodic maintenance checks of the school site’s Automated External Defibrillator (AED); sanitize health office cots; maintain health office area and sufficient stock of health office supplies. Assist School Nurse and principal in special assignments or daily routines; provide general information on Student Health Services policies to students, parents, and school personnel. Employment Standards

Education/Experience:

Any education and experience that provides the required knowledge and skills is qualifying. Typical ways to obtain knowledge and skills include related experience and demonstrated ability. Knowledge:

Behavior and characteristics of students ages 3–22; cardiopulmonary resuscitation, basic first aid, emergency procedures; current office procedures; basic computer software and data‑entry skills; telephone etiquette. Skills:

Administering CPR; rendering first aid; preparing and maintaining accurate records; dealing tactfully with students, parents, and school personnel; applying laws, rules, and office policies; reading, writing, and speaking English at required level; working quickly in stressful situations; understanding instructions; establishing effective relationships. Licenses/Certificates:

Current Heartsaver + AED CPR card from American Heart Association within 30 days; Standard First Aid card from American Heart Association or Red Cross within 30 days. EEO Statement
