Job Summary and Qualifications The Staff Radiologic Technologist is responsible for taking radiographs in accordance with ARRT standards and providing outstanding patient care. The role requires knowledge of anatomy, patient positioning, radiographic sciences, radiation protection, and specialized techniques.
Responsibilities
Perform all diagnostic radiographic procedures, including ER, surgical, fluoroscopic, and portable radiographs.
Select and operate radiography equipment and associated accessories to conduct procedures.
Interpret and implement referring physicians’ orders.
Practice safe radiation protection following hospital guidelines.
Assist physicians and radiologists with sterile‑technique procedures.
Prepare and administer radiopaque contrast media required for exams.
Assess patient condition before and during all procedures.
Provide optimal patient care during examinations.
Corroborate patient history, document findings, and ensure completeness for licensed practitioners.
Perform other department‑related duties as required.
Perform minor equipment repairs, upkeep, and report problems to supervisor or log.
Education
Graduate of an ACR approved Radiologic Technology program or meet Texas certification requirements on an educationally equivalent basis.
Experience
Entry‑level graduate Radiologic Technologist will be accepted based on shift and responsibilities.
Licenses and Certifications
Certified or temporarily certified by Texas Department of State Health Services as a Medical Radiologic Technologist.
ARRT(R) Certified with Radiology; ARRT registry eligible within 12 months post‑hire.
Basic Cardiac Life Support or CPR obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
