Shift Day Shift – 5:30 am start, early morning inpatient draws, weekend and holiday rotation.

Description Perform phlebotomy, specimen receipt, processing, distribution, computer order entry, and requisition completion. Track specimens via computer functions to ensure accurate, timely routing. Verify complete and accurate patient samples, demographics, and diagnosis codes for laboratory testing. Support inpatient blood draws during early mornings and outpatient lab hours (M‑F 7am‑6pm, Saturday 7am‑12pm).

Required Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent. Completion of phlebotomy, medical assistant, or patient care technician training. Previous phlebotomy experience preferred if formal training and certification as a phlebotomist is not obtained.

What you will do Perform successful sample collection, including venipuncture blood draws, capillary puncture, infant heel sticks, and urine collection with proper patient identification and customer‑service skills. Understand laboratory requisitions and locate missing or incomplete information. Complete specimen handling and processing, including centrifugation of vacutainers and aliquoting/pouring of specimens. Adjust pH of 24‑hour urine specimens as required. Follow test‑cancellation policy and complete follow‑up tasks. Locate specimens for add‑on testing. Maintain minimum supply levels and keep workstation and section clean.
