The purpose of this position is to provide clinical oversight for day‑to‑day hospital operations, deliver patient care in a therapeutic setting, follow physician orders, assess and initiate treatment plans, provide group and individual therapy/education, and coordinate referrals. Responsibilities include medication administration, IV therapy, clinical documentation, patient and family education, and supervision of non‑employee nursing staff. Essential Functions
Perform ongoing and comprehensive nursing assessments and develop care plans for admitted patients. Administer medications, IV therapy, and venipuncture techniques as authorized by state law. Carry out physician orders, document progress, and evaluate patient responses to interventions. Supervise and evaluate clinical activities of non‑employee nursing staff and coordinate staffing schedules. Educate patients and families regarding medication administration, disease prevention, and basic living skills. Maintain accurate and legible medical chart documentation and comply with record‑keeping requirements. Ensure a safe therapeutic environment and uphold all patient right and confidentiality policies. Provide psychiatric metric measures, documentation, and compliance with seclusion and restraint protocols as mandated by federal and state laws. Implement and monitor infection control measures, including hand hygiene and use of personal protective equipment. Maintain safe patient, staff, and visitor environment, including monitoring of restraint and seclusion use and related documentation. Required Skills
Knowledge of standard nursing practice for geriatric and/or mental health populations. Strong communication and de‑escalation skills for managing potentially violent or self‑injurious patients. Ability to problem‑solve and make decisions during crisis situations. Proficiency in IV, fluid/electrolyte, blood component, and venipuncture technique. Understanding of psychiatric diagnosis, psychotropic medication, and medication side effects. Competence in universal precautions, infection control, and legal/ethical nursing principles. Experience with assessment, documentation, and compliance with seclusion and restraint policies. Familiarity with hospital policies, procedures, and accreditation standards for patient safety, infection control, and cultural competency. Required Work Experience
One (1) year of clinical nursing experience, preferably in geriatrics and/or mental health. Licensing/Certification/Education Requirements
Graduate of an accredited nursing program with an RN degree. Current state RN license. Current CPR certification. Current BLS or CPR Advanced (CPI) certification. Other Requirements
Unscheduled overtime and weekend work may be required. Willingness to work flexible shifts. Travel may be required. Computer Skills
Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and standard office equipment. Ability to learn HRIS and scheduling systems. Physical Requirements
Frequent lifting up to 40 pounds. Standing, walking, sitting, bending, reaching, kneeling, pushing, and pulling. Work performed in a typical office environment with controlled temperature and noise. Safety Expectations
