Registered Dental Assistant (RDA) – Omni Family Health
Job Summary:
The Registered Dental Assistant performs duties such as preparing patients for treatment, assisting the dentist in restorative dentistry or oral surgery, preparing materials and equipment, taking x‑rays, and assisting with laboratory work. May also perform related tasks including scheduling, answering phones, ordering supplies, and billing.
Job Duties
Greets patients in the waiting area and escorts them to the operatory.
Assists the dentist in chairside treatment as directed.
Promotes an atmosphere supportive of good dental and general health through demonstration of oral hygiene and patient instruction.
Maintains a sterile, neat working environment following infection control procedures.
Reviews health histories, makes chart entries, and ensures completion of forms and signatures.
Assumes responsibility for expanded duties delegated by the dentist.
Familiarizes patients with the aspects of their visit and provides compassionate support.
Stocks operatory trays and maintains clinical supply inventory.
Prepares daily schedule, sets up trays and instruments.
Assists with front‑office procedures when required or needed.
Supervises preventive maintenance of dental equipment.
Serves as supply liaison, communicating with purchasing and vendors.
Performs procedures such as obtaining cultures, drying canals, testing pulp vitality, placing bases and liners, removing excess cement, sizing crowns, cementing temporary crowns, placing orthodontic separators and ligating arch wires, post‑extraction dressings, bite registrations, and coronal polishing.

Other Duties
HIPAA compliance – maintain confidentiality of member information.
Compliance – ensure adherence to all local, state, and federal regulations.
QA/QI – participate in quality assurance and improvement activities.
IT – learn and use the Electronic Health Record and Practice Electronic System.
Participation in the Patient‑Centered Health Home Model at Omni Family Health.
Qualifications, Education, And Experience
High school graduate (or GED).
Proof of completing radiation safety course.
At least one year of experience as a dental assistant.
Registered Dental Assistant certification required.
Certificates for coronal polishing and sealants required.
Current and valid Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
Knowledge of dental health education subjects.
Ability to communicate in English and Spanish.
