Assistant Professor, Health Communication
Position Summary:
The Department of Communication Studies at UNC Greensboro invites applications for a full-time, tenure‑track Assistant Professor position in Health Communication. We seek a colleague who focuses on health communication across changing health landscapes with a preference for scholars whose teaching and research interests align with emerging trends in healthcare interventions, integrative use of theory, communication strategies during periods of change, cross‑cultural and global perspectives, access and equity, and digital and transmedia storytelling.
Emerging trends in healthcare interventions (digital and mobile health, AI, data privacy, evidence‑based patient‑centered perspectives).
Integrative uses of theory and innovative methods that incorporate multi‑perspective and multi‑method approaches to health and healthcare.
Communication strategies during periods of change and crisis (health, public safety, climate, policy & institutional).
Cross‑cultural and global perspectives on digital health and public safety messaging.
Access and equity in urban and rural health contexts.
Digital and transmedia storytelling in health and related contexts.
Minimum Qualifications:
The successful candidate will hold or anticipate a Ph.D. in Communication or a related field at the time of appointment (August 1, 2026).
Applicants Should Provide:
Evidence of a strong research program or the potential for a strong research program.
A commitment to teaching and mentoring graduate and undergraduate students.
The ability to create new courses that contribute to our curriculum.
Preferred Qualifications:
Competitive applicants will demonstrate a commitment to transdisciplinary research, with potential for securing funding and partnering across the department and the university.
Special Instructions:
Applicants should provide one syllabus on an upper‑level class/seminar in their area of specialization.
