Job Purpose and Summary In our Retail locations, Pharmacy Technicians play a critical role in supporting our pharmacy teams to consistently deliver on our brand promise. You will assist the pharmacy team in delivering operational and service excellence, ensuring prescriptions are filled promptly, safely and accurately while delivering an exceptional experience to patients and customers. You will operate under Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and best practices, contribute to a safe and inclusive culture, and when completed with training, comply with state Board of Pharmacy requirements.

Responsibilities

Follow all company SOPs at each workstation to support pharmacists in improving patient health.

Adhere to pharmacy workflow procedures at production, pick‑up, drive‑thru and drop‑off workstations for safe and accurate prescription fulfillment.

Contribute to positive patient experiences by showing empathy and genuine care, offering immunizations and other services, and resolving or escalating patient problems.

Complete basic inventory activities as permitted by law and directed by leadership, such as putting away medication deliveries and completing cycle counts, returns‑to‑stocks, waiting‑bin inventories, etc.

Embrace a growth mindset, seek opportunities to expand clinical and technical knowledge, and provide feedback to enhance team performance.

Remain flexible for scheduling and business needs, including traveling to nearby stores as required.

Understand and comply with all relevant federal, state and local laws, regulations, professional standards and ethical principles; uphold CVS policies to protect patient safety, privacy and security.

When authorized, deliver additional patient health care services (e.g., immunizations, point‑of‑care testing and off‑site clinic staffing).

Immunization Responsibilities (if applicable)

Complete additional licensure and training requirements to obtain Technician Immunizer status.

Educate patients about vaccines and refer vaccine questions to the pharmacist‑on‑duty.

Monitor and respond to adverse reactions; report events per public health requirements.

Review and document patient information for each applicable patient.

Manage vaccine supplies.

Required Qualifications

Comply with state board of pharmacy requirements or laws governing the practice of pharmacy, including age, education, and licensure/certification.

If the state board does not mandate a minimum age, must be at least 16 years of age.

If the state board does not mandate a minimum educational requirement, must have a high school diploma or equivalent, or be actively enrolled in high school or an equivalency program.

State‑level licensure and national certification requirements vary by state.

Essential Functions

Regular and predictable attendance, including nights and weekends.

Complete required training within designated timeframe.

Attention and Focus: Concentrate on tasks, pivot quickly, confirm prescription information and label accuracy, ensuring patient safety.

Customer Service and Team Orientation: Actively help people in a friendly manner; notice and respond to patient reactions.

Communication Skills: Use verbal and written communication; listen actively; ask appropriate questions.

Mathematical Reasoning: Solve problems using math, such as determining tablet counts and dispensing totals.

Problem Resolution: Identify challenging interactions and choose best course of action.

Physical Demands: Mobile, able to lift up to 20 lbs, reach overhead, use fingers for typing, maintain visual acuity for small tasks.

Perform any additional tasks as directed by supervisor or manager.

Preferred Qualifications

1–3 years of previous experience as a Pharmacy Technician.

Experience in a pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service setting.

Ability to work in the home store and across the market in other locations.

Anticipated Weekly Hours 40 hours

Time Type Full time

Pay Range The typical pay range for this role is $17.00–$27.00 per hour. The actual offer will depend on factors such as experience, education and location.
