Job Summary
Registered Nurse (RN) is a licensed professional who uses the BSWH nursing professional practice model to coordinate patient care delivery by the health care team. Using the nursing process, the RN assesses the patient, identifies nursing diagnoses, develops and implements an individualized plan of care, and evaluates the patient’s response. The RN promotes safe passage for patients by applying knowledge of patient needs and the healthcare environment to assist patients to transition through the healthcare encounter without preventable complications or delays. The RN delegates interventions to health care personnel based on the Texas Nursing Practice Act and the employee’s competencies.
Essential Functions Of the Role
Clinical Judgment: Conduct accurate assessments, identify and prioritize patient and family needs, develop, implement, evaluate the nursing plan of care, and modify the plan to meet clinical outcomes.
Clinical Inquiry: Systematically evaluate the quality and effectiveness of nursing practice, support evidence-based practice changes, and participate in quality/performance improvement initiatives.
Care Practices: Create a compassionate, supportive, safe and therapeutic environment; manage emotional and physical pain to promote comfort and healing.
Response to Diversity: Integrate a patient’s and family’s unique differences into an individualized plan of care.
Advocacy and Moral Agency: Preserve confidentiality, autonomy, dignity and rights; identify and resolve ethical and clinical concerns.
Facilitation of Learning: Facilitate learning for patients and families and nursing staff, document learning needs and outcomes.
Collaboration: Work collaboratively with colleagues and community; delegate tasks and ensure timely follow-up.
Systems Thinking: Use strategies and resources for problem‑solving; consider safety, effectiveness and efficiency.
Professionalism: Participate in shared governance, advance professional growth, and serve the community.

Qualifications
EDUCATION – Graduate of an accredited program.
MAJOR – Nursing.
EXPERIENCE – 2 years of experience.
CERTIFICATION/LICENSE/REGISTRATION – Registered Nurse (RN); Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days of hire or transfer.
