What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
Perform concurrent analytical reviews of clinical and coding data to improve physician documentation
Conduct initial and follow-up reviews of patient records to assign accurate diagnoses and procedures
Query physicians for additional documentation regarding unclear or conflicting health records
Educate healthcare providers on the importance of accurate and complete documentation
Collaborate with coding professionals to resolve discrepancies and ensure DRG accuracy
What is Required (Qualifications):
Minimum of 1 year of experience as a Clinical Documentation Specialist
Additional 2 years of experience in an acute care setting or relevant experience
Graduate of an accredited school of nursing, PA, NP, or medical school, or Associate's degree with CCDS certification
Certification as a Clinical Documentation Specialist (CCDS) from ACDIS
Proficiency with MS Office tools, especially Excel
How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
Prior experience reviewing patient safety indicators (PSI) or specialized mortality reviews
Strong understanding of clinical documentation improvement practices
Experience in educating healthcare teams on documentation standards
Ability to conduct independent research on clinical topics and coding guidelines
