About This Position This position is in partnership with Troy High School. The Athletic Trainer provides comprehensive healthcare services to student‑athletes throughout the fall, winter, and spring sports seasons at Troy High School. Responsibilities include injury prevention, evaluation, treatment, rehabilitation, and emergency care during practices and games. The trainer ensures adherence to safety protocols and collaborates with coaches, parents, and healthcare providers to promote athlete well‑being. Additional duties include covering all contracted hours for athletic events, maintaining accurate documentation in SportsWare, and educating athletes on injury prevention and recovery strategies.
About Outpatient Clinics Corewell Health operates over 300 outpatient clinics across Michigan, bringing a multitude of care options to the communities we serve. There are over 40 different types of primary care and specialty practices, allowing clinicians to learn and explore various interests or specialize in one area.
Scope of Work Under the general direction of the supervising physician, the athletic trainer delivers athletic training services to encompass the prevention, examination, diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation of emergent, acute, or chronic injuries and medical conditions. Athletic trainers are highly qualified, multi‑skilled health care professionals who develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive health care programs for athletes and other patients. Under the direction of, on the prescription of, or in collaboration with a physician, the practice of athletic training includes the treatment of an individual for risk‑management injury prevention, clinical evaluation and assessment, immediate care and treatment, and rehabilitation and reconditioning of injury or illness, or both.
Qualifications
Required: Bachelor’s Degree, completion of a CAATE approved athletic training education program or educational equivalent.
Preferred: Master’s Degree or post‑certification Master’s degree in athletic training.
Required upon hire: CRT‑Athletic Trainer, Certified – BOC Board of Certification and Accreditation.
Required upon hire: LIC-Athletic Trainer License – State of Michigan.
Preferred: AHA or ARC Basic Life Support (BLS).
Required upon hire: CRT – at least one certification from the preferred list.
Preferred: CRT‑Performance Enhancement Specialization, Certified (PES).
Preferred: CRT‑Functional Movement Screen, Certified (FMS).
Preferred: CRT‑Kinesio Taping Practitioner, Certified (CKTP).
Preferred: LIC‑Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) – State of Michigan.
