Position Summary We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Medical Assistant – NYUL Advanced Ortho Associates – Stonybrook. In this role, the successful candidate will assist physicians and nurses in caring for patients and families by completing assigned patient‑care tasks, providing competent, safe, and compassionate care with an emphasis on understanding the challenges faced by hospitalized patients and those undergoing procedures or diagnostic tests.
Job Responsibilities
Performs other duties as assigned.
Assists with maintaining patient flow to and from exam rooms and treatment areas and escorts patients as needed.
Obtains vital signs, weights, and EKGs; assists with blood collection phlebotomy as required, ensuring charts are available with relevant lab and test reports for physicians.
Assists physicians with procedures (e.g., GI procedures, all medical exams).
Ensures exam rooms and treatment areas are cleaned and prepared for each patient; assists with light housekeeping duties, including spill cleanup.
Supports patients with food, toileting, ambulation, and comfort needs.
Assures completion of patient charges per policy.
Cleanly sterilizes equipment after use, answers telephones in treatment areas, and assists staff in scheduling treatments.
Stocks exam and treatment rooms with supplies, linens, and chart forms.
Assists with training new medical assistants and may perform administrative responsibilities as needed.
Minimum Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent. Graduate of a Medical Assistant program OR at least 2 years of Medical Assistant experience. Excellent oral and written communication, interpersonal, and customer‑service skills. Basic computer knowledge.
Preferred Qualifications Basic Life Support (BLS) certification preferred; Medical Assistant certification preferred. Knowledge of EPIC Ambulatory and medical terminology preferred.
Qualified candidates must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.

Actual salaries depend on experience, specialty, education, and hospital need and do not include bonuses, incentive pay, differential pay, or other compensation or benefits.
