STGi is currently seeking a Nurse Practitioner to provide services at our Community Based Outpatient Clinic in Tupelo, Mississippi.

JOB SUMMARY The general duty of the Nurse Practitioner is to provide professional clinical services under the direction of the Community Based Outpatient Clinic (CBOC) Primary Care Provider (PCP).

The Nurse Practitioner is an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) who performs a wide range of health services, including urgent and emergent evaluation of episodic and chronic problems, comprehensive primary health care, emergency measures, preventive health, prescribing medications, ordering and interpreting laboratory and diagnostic studies, and patient and family education using community, social, and health resources.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

Provide primary and preventive medical care under a limited scope of Current Procedural Terminology (CPT) codes and within skills and training limits.

Provide medical patient care according to nationally recognized credentialing organization standards for Nurse Practitioners.

Operate within the scope of practice of the state Nurse Practice Act (NPA) and applicable standards.

Collaborate closely with the Patient and Allied Care Team (PACT) and support staff; participate in daily huddles.

Emphasize wellness, prevention, and early detection.

Supervise support staff in patient care delivery.

Follow universal precautions and infection‑control practices.

Ensure smooth and timely patient flow in accordance with VA access standards and triage protocol.

Perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and assist during respiratory and cardiac arrest procedures.

Conduct health assessments, history-taking, physical examinations, diagnosis, and treatment planning.

Order diagnostic tests and interpret results; prescribe medications within privileges and regulations.

Document all patient information in medical records and Veterans Health Information Systems and Technology Architecture (VISTA); maintain VISTA reminder tracking.

Close patient charts within 24‑72 hours of encounter and place Return to Clinic (RTC) orders promptly.

Assist in scheduling initial and follow‑up appointments per VA's access standards.

Provide educational materials and resources to patients and families.

Assist the Registered Nurse in ensuring complete and accurate electronic encounter documentation.

Comply with all federal, state, local, Joint Commission, OSHA, Veteran Affairs, and subcontractor safety regulations.

Participate in ongoing performance improvement, peer reviews, and staff development programs.

Maintain confidentiality of patient information and support patient privacy and safety.

Assist in day‑to‑day operation and coordination of the CBOC.

Perform other clinical duties within privilege limits as assigned.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

Three years of clinical nursing experience is required; minimum one year of clinical experience as a APRN is required (three years preferred).

Experience in outpatient care in a Family Medicine or Internal Medicine environment is preferred.

APRN must hold a current and unrestricted DEA license and obtain a state‑licensed physician collaboration agreement before delivery of health care.

Current and unrestricted Mississippi nursing license.

Basic Life Support (BLS)/Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) or Military Training Network (MTN).

Prescriptive authority in accordance with state rules and regulations.

Ability to set realistic, measurable education goals for patients, and to develop individualized counseling and group instruction focused on disease prevention and health maintenance.

Experience with safe opioid medication practices for chronic pain.

Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and computer maneuverability.

Exceptional diplomatic communication skills and experience in handling difficult customer situations.

Detail oriented with multi‑tasking ability.

REQUIRED EDUCATION

Master's degree in nursing from an NLN AC or CCNE accredited program.

Current full certification as a Nurse Practitioner from the American Nurses Association (ANA).

ANA certification in either Adult Health or Family Practice as a Nurse Practitioner.

WORKING CONDITIONS / PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Moderate physical activity; handling average‑weight objects up to 25 lbs and standing/walking >4 hours per day.

Typical interior/office environment; ability to respond to emergencies quickly.
