Job Purpose And Summary We help people navigate the health care system by improving access, lowering costs and being a trusted partner for every meaningful moment of health. Within our Retail locations, our District Support Pharmacists (DSPs) play a critical role in cultivating a culture of excellence within each pharmacy worked by acting as a role model for all, demonstrating genuine care, and setting the bar for the pharmacy team.

As a DSP, you will cover pharmacist scheduling gaps, support pharmacy teams, and oversee the management, oversight, and operation of the pharmacy and pharmacy team across stores in the district.

Responsibilities

Live our purpose by safely dispensing, counseling and immunizing patients.

Travel the district to fill pharmacist shifts as scheduled by the District Performance Coordinator, serving as the Pharmacy Manager’s proxy when needed.

Support safe and accurate prescription fulfillment by directing the team to follow workflow and safety guardrails.

Assume Pharmacy Manager’s day‑to‑day duties when serving as the only or primary pharmacist‑on‑duty.

Coach the pharmacy team to provide compassionate care and resolve insurance/medication issues.

Offer and deliver immunizations, and support Pharmacy Technicians to learn to immunize.

Manage pharmacy inventory, focusing on protecting cold chain products.

Remain flexible for scheduling and business needs while fostering a safe, inclusive, and engaging team dynamic.

Maintain clinical and technical skills through required trainings and CMEs, and pursue knowledge to better support patients.

Provide pharmacist‑delivered clinical care such as testing and prescribing services where permissible.

Adhere to all relevant laws, regulations and CVS Health policies, including controlled substance dispensing and privacy.

Required Qualifications

Active Pharmacist License in the state where the store is located.

Active National Provider Identifier (NPI).

Not on the DEA Excluded Parties list.

Essential Functions

Travel within a reasonable radius to support market staffing.

Maintain regular attendance, including nights and weekends.

Complete required training within the designated timeframe.

Attention and Focus

Concentrate on tasks over time.

Pivot quickly between tasks.

Confirm prescription information and label accuracy.

Actively look for ways to help.

Respond appropriately to patient reactions.

Communication Skills

Use verbal and written communication with patients and colleagues.

Mathematical Reasoning

Use math to calculate prescriptions.

Identify and resolve challenging interactions.

Physical Demands

Remain mobile, lift up to 20 lbs, reach overhead, use precision, etc.

Other tasks as directed by Supervisor or Manager.

Preferred Qualifications

1–2 years of related pharmacy, retail, medical or customer service experience.

Time Type Full time

Pay Range The typical pay range for this role is $60.00 - $76.00 per hour, which may vary based on experience, education and location. The position may also be eligible for bonuses and incentive programs.
