Job Description American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for an Emergency Department role in a Level I Trauma setting requiring NM or compact RN licensure and TNCC certification.
Responsibilities
Work in an Emergency Department within a Level I Trauma and teaching hospital
Patient population includes high acuity trauma and general emergency cases; 60%-80% of patients are admitted
Typical ratios are 1:5 in the department
Many patients are in ED Holding areas due to high admission rates
Shifts available are 36 or 48 hours per week, day or night shifts as scheduled
Weekend shifts required as needed, with weekends defined as Saturday and Sunday for days and Friday, Saturday, and Sunday nights
Expected to float to Adult Progressive Care Units and ED Holding areas; floating to the Pediatric ED is optional
Uses Cerner EMR; prior experience preferred but not required
No on-call requirements
Must adhere to black scrub color dress code
Provide emergency nursing care, including IV medication administration and documentation of clinical findings
Work as part of an interdisciplinary trauma care team in a fast-paced, acute environment
This is a teaching hospital and short-term acute care facility
First-time travelers may be considered if they have 2+ years Level I Trauma experience
RTO greater than 7 days requires management approval
Parking is provided at no cost to staff
Requirements
Active NM or compact RN license; pending NM license accepted
Minimum 2 years of ED RN experience required, Level I Trauma experience preferred; 1.5 years will be considered
TNCC certification required prior to consideration
Current ACLS, BLS, and PALS certifications requiredNIH Stroke Scale certification may be completed prior to start
COVID-19 vaccination required unless approved exemption is provided
No local candidates within 75 miles accepted
