Job Title: Mental Health Therapist (Licensed/Unlicensed)
University Behavioral Center, a subsidiary of Universal Health Services, Inc. (UHS), provides intensive mental health services to children, adolescents and adults as well as detox and substance abuse programs for adults. Our mental health facility provides safe and effective inpatient treatment to assist individuals in leading more productive and fulfilling lives. The facility is located on a beautiful 14-acre campus in Orlando, Florida, and includes 112 licensed beds. We seek professionals with an active/clear Florida license. Previous experience in a psychiatric facility or rehabilitation program is required.
Position Summary The Program Therapist performs social services functions to include assisting patients in meeting their biopsychosocial needs while enabling them to access, through therapeutic treatment skills, to achieve their optimal level of emotional health. This includes providing basic consultation, teaching, completing specialized clinical social work services for individuals/families receiving care, crisis intervention, short‑term and long‑term family therapy, group therapy, providing information and referrals as needed, and individual therapy when ordered by an MD. Provides a variety of psychotherapeutic services, group, family, individual to individuals in psychiatric hospital setting, presenting with co‑occurring disorders, psychiatric disorders, substance abuse disorders and other behavioral disorders. Provides social services, including, but not limited to discharge planning. This is a Per‑Diem position Day Shift (Weekend availability required).
Job Duties / Responsibilities
Facilitate structured, evidence‑based group therapy sessions for assigned units
Provide individual therapy to patients as clinically appropriate
Conduct initial biopsychosocial assessments and risk evaluations
Develop and implement individualized treatment plans
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams on treatment planning and discharge coordination
Accurately document therapeutic interventions, progress notes, and clinical updates in CERNER
Participate in clinical rounds, shift report, and staff meetings as needed
Deliver crisis intervention, safety planning, and de‑escalation support
Ensure adherence to ethical standards, regulatory guidelines, and hospital policies

Qualifications
Master’s degree in Counseling, Social Work, Psychology, or a related behavioral health field (required)
Minimum 1 year of clinical experience in an inpatient/outpatient psychiatric setting preferred
Knowledge and Skills
Strong therapeutic skills and knowledge of therapeutic philosophies (group and individual treatment skills)
Working knowledge of developmental stages
Some minimal knowledge of community resources
Ability to communicate effectively with varied ability to understand
Strong assessment skills and ability to intervene in a variety of situations
