We are seeking a Florida‑licensed Histotechnician (HT ASCP) to join our clinical laboratory in Tampa, FL. Florida Clinical Laboratory Technologist license in Histology is required. Job Summary
Reporting to the Lab Director, the Histotechnician is responsible for following the laboratory's procedures for specimen handling and processing, test analyses, and reporting, as well as maintaining records of patient test results. They keep the manager and physicians regularly informed about the work in progress and any problems that may occur. Responsibilities
Perform all technical procedures related to the preparation of tissue and production of slides while maintaining the highest standard of quality. Precise and accurate accessioning of cases into the LIS. Dissection of skin and excisional specimens following the institution grossing protocol to ensure accurate and high‑quality processing. Embedding of tissue. Cutting of blocks. H&E staining. Perform all technical procedures related to the preparation and processing of special stain slides. Operate the Special Stainer and ensure all equipment is in proper working order to produce high‑quality slides. Validate staining kits used in the Special Stains area. Validate Special Stain controls used and monitor the maintenance of adequate control slides and blocks. Maintain quality control system for the Special Stains area. Perform all technical procedures related to the preparation and processing of immunohistochemical slides. Operate the IHC Stainer and ensure all equipment is in proper working order to produce high‑quality slides. Validate all antibodies used in IHC staining. Validate IHC controls used during staining and monitor the maintenance of adequate control slides and blocks. Maintain quality‑control system specific to the IHC area. Help maintain inventory of all IHC antibodies and reagents. Other duties assigned as deemed necessary by management. Qualifications
HT (ASCP) required. Florida Clinical Laboratory Technologist license is required. Two (2) years of experience in a histology laboratory performing all of the following: fixation, specimen processing, embedding, microtomy, and reagent preparation. Two years of special and IHC staining experience is preferred. Must have the skills equivalent to those taught in an accredited histotechnology program. If hired in a Mohs lab, must be qualified as high‑complexity testing personnel under CLIA regulations. Basic knowledge and understanding of computers. Ability to read and understand written protocols, lab reference manuals, and memos. Manage large volumes of work accurately. Effective interpersonal skills. Physical Requirements
Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Must be able to lift 40 pounds at times. Benefits
