Required Qualifications
One year of recent experience as an Operating Room RN
Valid RN license in compliance with state regulations
Current BLS certification (AHA/ARC)
Preferred Qualifications
ACLS (AHA/ARC), PALS (AHA/ARC), or ENPC certifications
OR Nursing Certification (CNOR)
Other certifications and licenses may be required for this position
Summary The Operating Room Registered Nurse provides comprehensive patient care throughout the perioperative process, ensuring safety and comfort during surgical procedures.
Essential Work Functions
Prepare the operating room, ensuring all instruments, equipment, and supplies are ready and functional.
Assist in positioning and preparing patients for surgery, addressing concerns and ensuring comfort and safety.
Maintain a sterile field throughout procedures and adhere to infection control protocols.
Anticipate the needs of the surgical team, providing instruments and support promptly.
Monitor the patient's condition during surgery, documenting significant changes and notifying the surgeon.
Handle surgical instruments and supplies, ensuring proper use, sterilization, and disposal.
Manage specimen collection, labeling, and transport according to protocols.
Document all aspects of patient care accurately and thoroughly.
Participate in patient handoff communication during pre‑ and post‑operative phases.
Assist in cleaning and restocking the operating room between cases.
Collaborate with the surgical team to ensure compliance with policies.
Follow hospital safety rules, including proper use of PPE and infection prevention measures.
Perform other duties as assigned within scope of practice.
Required Essential Skills
Critical thinking, service excellence, and strong interpersonal communication.
Proficiency in English: reading, writing, and communication.
Ability to understand written and verbal instructions; proficiency with PCs.
Physical ability to remain stationary, move equipment (50‑100 lbs), push, pull, and bend.
Interpersonal skills to work effectively with a range of personnel.
Technical/motor skills for fine manipulation and assistance with procedures.
Mental resilience under pressure and irregular schedules.
Visual acuity and clear communication.
