Mental Health Therapist - Woodbridge, VA (FT) Connections Health Solutions is a leading provider of immediate-access behavioral health crisis care. Responsibilities

Conduct thorough psychosocial assessment within 24 hours of admission.

Provide internal education regarding DBT, trauma-informed care, harm reduction, and service plan documentation.

Prepare clinical reports and individualized service plans using agency electronic documentation software, ensuring compliance with regulations and best practices.

Deliver brief interventions, individual, family, and group counseling within scope of practice, documenting services accurately.

Arrange referrals and placement of individuals in community substance use programs, housing, or employment opportunities.

Provide case management services to promote recovery and community reintegration, including crisis interventions and follow-up as necessary.

Maintain knowledge of Virginia involuntary commitment process, DBHDS, and DMAS roles.

Participate in supervision and ongoing education; demonstrate competency through supervision and skill observation.

Complete required training, attend monthly meetings, and maintain required competencies.

Coordinate civil commitment process with stakeholders.

Perform all assigned duties.

Qualifications

Unrestricted license as Licensed Mental Health Professional in Virginia (LMHP, LMHP‑R, LMHP‑RP, LMHP‑S, or CATP). Acceptable licensure includes LGPC, LPC, LMSW, LCSW, LMFT, LCP, CSAC.

Minimum 3 years of experience in mental health, substance use treatment, or related work.

Knowledge of principles of recovery, family of origin/intergenerational issues, and co-occurring psychiatric disorders.

Experience working with special populations (serious mental illness, substance use diagnoses, brain injuries, and those over 60 years of age).

Proficiency in Safe Clinch patient restraint techniques.

For youth work, experience with children’s system of care and stakeholders.

Must be fully vaccinated (or exempt per company policy).

State of Virginia fingerprint clearance.

Pass Virginia Department of Behavioral Health & Developmental Services and Virginia Department of Social Services background checks.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience working with children, youth, families, and adults with behavioral health issues.

Knowledge of Virginia involuntary treatment process.
