Histotechnologist II – Lewisville, TX (On‑Call)

Pay and Benefits Pay range: $33.00+ per hour. Employee may be eligible to receive shift differential of 10% for some or all hours worked on the second shift and 15% for some or all hours worked on the third shift. Salary offers are based on relevant skills, training, experience, education, and certifications. Successful candidates may be eligible for an annual performance bonus.
Benefits include a 401(k) plan with eligibility after one month and a fully vested company match up to 5% of pay. On‑call employees are eligible for a 401(k) pre‑tax and/or Roth IRA with company match up to 5% after 12 months of service.
Responsibilities
Perform routine and non‑routine activities involved in slide preparation for microscopic evaluation by pathologists, according to policies.
Capable of performing all duties/responsibilities of a Histotechnologist I.
May perform gross tissue examination, provided personnel qualifications are met.
Prepare solutions and reagents for special stain procedures.
Obtain and validate control tissue used in special stains.
Perform all special stain procedures.
May prepare solutions, reagents, control material, and perform IHC procedures.
Provide training and guidance to histotechnicians, students, and lab aides.
Prepare non‑gynecological specimens, including cytopreparation, staining, coverslipping, and FNA specimens.
Adhere to laboratory quality‑control policies, document all activities, and identify outliers.
Differentiate acceptable and unacceptable processing, embedding, cutting, and staining of tissue specimens.
May develop, execute, or validate new procedures.
Identify problems that may affect test performance or reporting and report them to supervisors.
Complete daily, routine histology functions without supervision.
Ensure all corporate safety, quality‑control and quality‑assurance standards, and all local, federal, CLIA and CAP regulations are met.
Maintain a clean and well‑organized work area.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications Required Work Experience:
AS degree or equivalent training and experience.
HT (ASCP) certification.
Three years of histology experience.
Current state licensure, if applicable.
Meets all corporate minimum qualifications for histotechnicians and supervisors.
If performing IHC testing, meets all corporate minimum qualifications for personnel performing IHC testing.
Preferred Work Experience:
BS degree.
HTL (ASCP) certification.
Graduate of a NAACLS accredited histotechnology program.
Six years of histopathology experience.
Immunohistochemistry experience.
Physical And Mental Requirements
May require lifting and carrying objects ranging from 1–10 pounds frequently to over 50 pounds without assistance.
Ability to stand and work at the bench for long periods.
Frequent walking and/or standing.
May need to use a wide variety of manual tools and laboratory instruments demanding significant manual dexterity.
