Registered Nurse (RN) – Correctional Facility Location: Fulton County Jail, Atlanta, GA

Overview NaphCare is hiring a strong Registered Nurse to provide quality, compassionate care to the incarcerated population in Fulton County Jail. Working within a controlled environment where security is top priority, you will engage in performing physical assessments, administering medications, managing chronic illnesses, and responding to emergencies.

Responsibilities

Perform initial health screenings and physical assessments of newly detained individuals.

Monitor and document patient health including vital signs and medical histories.

Provide direct patient care, triage, develop care plans, and coordinate services.

Manage acute and chronic conditions such as asthma, hypertension, and diabetes.

Respond to medical emergencies, provide first aid, and ensure timely transport to appropriate healthcare facilities.

Educate patients on preventative care, healthy lifestyle choices, and substance abuse prevention.

Adhere to correctional facility security protocols while collaborating closely with correctional officers and healthcare professionals.

Maintain accurate medical records, document treatment plans, and report relevant information.

Qualifications

Current, unrestricted nursing license in GA.

Valid CPR card.

Pass facility’s criminal background check and drug screening.

Knowledge of nursing practice principles, occupational health and safety standards, infectious disease management, and applicable health care laws and regulations.

Excellent communication, organizational, and problem‑solving skills.

Ability to work independently and in a team.

Flexible schedule; availability to work overtime when needed.

Integrity, professionalism, and adherence to a Code of Conduct and all facility correctional healthcare policies, procedures, and legal requirements.

Experience / Skills

Ability to maintain confidentiality of all proprietary and/or confidential information.

Excellent communication, organizational, and problem‑solving skills.

Flexible schedule and availability to work overtime when needed.

Integrity, professionalism, and ability to adhere to a Code of Conduct and comply with all facility correctional healthcare policies, procedures, and legal requirements.

Physical Capabilities Must have the ability to stand for long periods, lift and move patients (up to 50 pounds), bend, squat, reach, push, pull, walk significant distances, and perform physically demanding tasks like CPR while maintaining good balance and endurance throughout a shift.
