Job Description

Under immediate supervision, is responsible for professional level work in the nutrition services programs for the elderly or Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC), requiring continuous nutrition service, such as nutrition assessment, nutrition education and nutrition intake analysis. Working conditions are primarily in an office environment. May exercise functional supervision over assigned staff.
This position is a "grant funded" position, therefore unclassified and has no disciplinary appeal rights to the Municipal Civil Service Commission. This position is likewise subject to at-will employment status and can be terminated at any time for any reason.
The San Antonio Metro Health District (SAMHD) provides public health services to clients, which may include risk for exposure to and possible transmission of vaccine-preventable diseases. Staff in high-risk positions will be required to obtain relevant immunizations, per SAMHD Policy DM4.16. Review and consideration will be given to requests for exemption from this policy. SAMHD is committed to advancing public health throughout the community and to creating a work environment in which all staff feel valued, respected, and accepted.
Work Location Buena Vista WIC Clinic - 2315 Buena Vista Street, San Antonio, TX 78207
Work Schedule 7:45 a.m. - 4:30 p.m., Monday - Friday
Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university with a minimum of 24 semester hours in Food & Nutrition.
Valid Class "C" Texas Driver's License.
Registered Dietitian with the Commission on Dietetic Registration, American Dietetic Association.
Preferred Qualifications
One (1) year of experience with the WIC Program or in community nutrition.
Bilingual in English & Spanish.
