Registered Nurses (RN)
to join our team of medical professionals in
Tucson, Arizona , where we manage all aspects of healthcare for the individuals who are currently incarcerated in the
Pima County Detention Center.
We currently have Full Time Day and Night positions available.
As a
Correctional Registered Nurse (RN) , you will work alongside correctional officers and other medical professionals to provide care to the individuals in residence. Working within a controlled environment, where security is top priority, the days are never dull, and security protocols are critical. Your duties will include performing physical assessments, administering medications, managing chronic illnesses, and responding to emergencies.
Responsibilities
Perform initial health screenings and physical assessments of newly detained individuals.
Monitor and document patient health including vital signs and medical histories.
Provide direct patient care, triage, assess patient needs, develop care plans, and coordinate services.
Manage acute and chronic conditions such as asthma, hypertension, and diabetes.
Respond to medical emergencies, provide first aid, and ensure timely transport to appropriate healthcare facilities.
Educate patients on preventative care, healthy lifestyle choices, and substance abuse prevention.
Understand and adhere to correctional facility security protocols while working closely with correctional officers and other healthcare professionals to ensure safety and well‑being of patients.
Maintain accurate medical records, document treatment plans, and report relevant information.
Qualifications
Current, unrestricted license as a Registered Nurse in the State.
Active BLS/CPR Certification (AHA preferred).
Knowledge of nursing practice principles, occupational health and safety standards, infectious disease management, applicable health care laws, regulations, and procedures for direct health care services.
Ability to maintain confidentiality of all proprietary and confidential information.
Excellent communication, organizational, and problem‑solving skills.
Able to work independently and in a team.
Flexible schedule and availability to work over a Code of Conduct and comply with all facility correctional healthcare policies, procedures, and legal requirements.
Must pass the facility’s criminal background check and drug screening.
Physical Capabilities Must be able to stand for long periods, lift and move patients (up to 50 pounds), bend, squat, reach, push, pull, walk significant distances, and perform physically demanding tasks such as CPR, all while maintaining balance and endurance throughout a shift.
