Job Purpose and Summary As a Pharmacy Technician, you will support the pharmacy team in delivering operational and service excellence within your store. You will be the first point of contact for patients and customers, ensuring that prescriptions are filled promptly, safely, and accurately while providing exceptional service. Technicians operate as part of the pharmacy team through consistent application of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), best practices, and effective communication.

Responsibilities

Living our purpose by following all company SOPs at each workstation to help our Pharmacists manage and improve patient health.

Following pharmacy workflow procedures at each pharmacy workstation (production, pick‑up, drive‑thru, and drop‑off) for safe and accurate prescription fulfillment.

Contributing to positive patient experiences by showing empathy and genuine care: creating heartfelt and personalized moments while serving patients at pick‑up, drive‑thru, and over the phone; offering immunizations and other services at the register and over the phone; and demonstrating compassionate care by resolving or escalating patient problems.

Completing basic inventory activities as permitted by law and directed by pharmacy leadership, such as putting away medication deliveries, cycle counts, returns‑to‑stocks, waiting‑bin inventories, etc.

Contributing to a high‑performing team, embracing a growth mindset, and actively seeking opportunities to expand clinical and technical knowledge.

Remaining flexible for both scheduling and business needs, including voluntary travel to stores in the market to work shifts as needed.

Understanding and complying with all relevant federal, state, and local laws, regulations, professional standards, and ethical principles; complying with CVS policies and procedures to ensure patient safety, controlled substance dispensing and record‑keeping, and patient privacy and security.

Delivering additional patient health care services (e.g., immunizations, point‑of‑care testing, and voluntarily staffing off‑site clinics) where allowable by law and supported by required training and certification.

When permissible, supporting immunizations: completing additional licensure and training requirements to obtain Technician Immunizer status, educating patients about vaccines, monitoring for adverse reactions, and reporting per public health requirements.

Required Qualifications

Must comply with any state board of pharmacy requirements or laws governing the practice of pharmacy, including age, education, and licensure/certification.

State‑level licensure and national certification requirements vary by state.

Eligible to work at least 16 years of age if no state minimum age is required.

Must have a high school diploma or equivalent if no minimum educational requirement is mandated by the state board.

Essential Functions

Regular and predictable attendance, including nights and weekends.

Completion of required training within the designated timeframe.

Attention and focus: ability to concentrate, pivot quickly, and confirm prescription information and label accuracy.

Customer service and team orientation: friendly help, understanding patients’ reactions, and responsive communication.

Communication skills: verbal and written communication, active listening, and clear instructions.

Mathematical reasoning: solving dosage calculations and inventory counts.

Problem resolution: choosing the best course of action in challenging interactions.

Physical demands: mobile, upright for extended periods, lift, stagger, reach, and repeat finger movements with occasional lifting up to 20 lbs.

Physical tasks as directed by supervisor or manager.

Preferred Qualifications

1–3 years of previous experience as a Pharmacy Technician.

Experience in a pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service setting.

Willingness to work across the market in other locations to meet business needs.

Compensation and Benefits • Anticipated weekly hours: 25 • Time type: Part time • Pay range: $18.35 – $28.35 per hour • Salary range (annual full‑time equivalent): $55,905.92 – $83,869.89
