Position Summary As a Patient Care Technician in our Perioperative Services department, you will be a key member of the healthcare team at BMC. Under the direction and supervision of the registered nurse (RN) and in accordance with hospital policies, procedures, protocols, and standards of practice, our Patient Care Technicians provide direct clinical and support services. Using our patient-centered care model, you will participate in the delivery of care to patients and families and work cooperatively with all healthcare team members to provide a variety of support services.

Job Responsibilities

Perform delegated patient care interventions for patients in the Perioperative Services department and their families.

Provide clinical services such as obtaining vital signs, bathing and feeding, dressing wounds, assisting with hygiene, cleaning rooms and linens, and delivering emotional support.

Perform environmental and inventory activities to ensure a safe, clean, and appropriately equipped environment for patients, visitors, and staff.

Contribute to the efficient operation of the Perioperative Services department, ensuring quality patient/family clinical outcomes.

Job Requirements

A high school diploma or GED certificate.

Certification in basic life support (BLS), including CPR certification (must be current or obtained within 30 days of employment).

Ability to pass clinical competency testing.

Physical ability to meet job responsibilities.

Basic math and computer proficiency.

Fluency in another language a plus.

One year of previous experience as a Patient Care Technician in an acute hospital setting, or * Currently enrolled in a nursing program and have completed two cycles of clinical rotation, or * Completed an approved Patient Care Technician training, or * Completed an approved Certified Medical Assistant training, or * One year of previous experience as an EMT or field medic (considered for adult ED positions only).

Compensation Range $23.19 – $27.17
