Responsibilities The staff nurse provides nursing care to patients from birth through the lifecycle utilizing nursing processes to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate the care for patients. He/she functions within the framework of the policies and procedures of the organization and demonstrates professional growth and accountability. The staff nurse is responsible for maintaining standards of practice, coordinating patient care activities of all assigned staff in the provision of quality nursing care.

Qualifications

Education:

Graduate from a nursing program (Required). Bachelor’s Degree Preferred.

Work Experience:

No experience required. New graduates of a nursing program eligible. Nursing experience in hospital setting Preferred. One year in a hospital setting for PRN positions Required.

Licenses and Certifications:

RN – Registered Nurse – Georgia State Licensure and/or NLC/eNCL Multistate Licensure; Current license in the State of Georgia as a Registered Nurse or NLC/eNCL Multistate License. Required. BCLS – Basic Life Support Required.

Additional Licenses and Certifications:

Advanced certification in field of specialty, if applicable (see addendum).

Addendum

Cardiac Tele: ACLS Certification (within 180 days).

Critical Care: ACLS Certification (within 180 days).

Dialysis: CDN (Certified Dialysis Certificate) Preferred.

Emergency Department: ACLS and PALS Certification (within 180 days). Experienced ED nurses 6 months to obtain PALS.

Infusion/Oncology: Chemotherapy/Biotherapy Certification prior to independent chemotherapy administration. Required at hire.

Pediatrics: PALS Certification required within 180 days. PEARS or PALS required depending on hospital. Maternal/Child requirements per hospital policy.

Surgical Services: PreOp/PACU/ENDO/CSU ACLS; PALS if unit provides care to pediatric patients. OR BLS required within 180 days.

Women's Services: Labor and Delivery ACLS Certification, NRP, AWHONN Intermediate Fetal Monitoring Program within 12 months, NICU NRP, Nursery NRP, Mother/Baby NRP. All within 180 days.
