Role Summary: With an advanced level of technical expertise, in collaboration with management and nonhuman primate stakeholders, the candidate will provide oversight of the Toxicology Nonhuman Primate colony. This includes ensuring availability of resources, overseeing essential in/ex vivo research and study development, and maintaining the toxicology colony with support from line management. The role works alongside the Toxicology Training Coordinator to oversee the NHP training program and competency advancement, and provides day-to-day support on studies within the toxicology group as needed. Responsibilities

Oversee the Toxicology primate maintenance program and cross-departmental coordination to maintain oversight of the NHP colony management (ordering, census, study schedules, training, and forecasting of upcoming project needs). Demonstrate strong interpersonal and organizational communication; respond to procedural changes and convey needs and concerns of the primate oversight committee for toxicology operations. Coordinate with management, Training Coordinators, and staff to initiate, administer, and oversee NHP training modules and techniques for existing and new technical staff; ensure proper execution of study-specific activities and competency of all techniques. Excel technically in multiple techniques across species with a strong NHP background; possess broad and versatile expertise in in/ex vivo techniques (antemortem and postmortem) across rodents and non-rodent species. Perform routine and complex tasks across toxicology animal species (e.g., dosing, blood collection, necropsy) with documentation using departmental SOPs. Open to modifying techniques and procedures to meet evolving research needs and maintain scientific and ethical quality; follow established procedures and protocols and recommend changes for refinement. Understand and adhere to safety guidelines, code of conduct, handling of materials, controlled substances and radioactive compounds, GXP compliance, and animal care and welfare regulations. Collaborate to develop new methods for Pre-Clinical Safety studies; learn new experimental techniques and present new or amended procedures to internal audiences. Qualifications

A.S. (or higher) or equivalent degree with 3+ years of experience with NHPs (and other rodent and non-rodent species), and eligibility to complete advanced certification in related field or techniques (examples: AALAS LATg, VTS, ASR) or High School Diploma or equivalent with 5+ years of experience and eligibility for certification (examples: AALAS LAT, VTS, ASR). Physical dexterity, visual and auditory acuity, organizational and time-management skills, and ability to adapt to environmental conditions in task performance. Computer skills including word processing, spreadsheet use, internet navigation, and industry or department-specific software; strong communication via email and messaging. Able to perform repetitive procedures and stand or walk for extended periods. Practical knowledge including calculations and problem-solving abilities to carry out job functions. Broad knowledge of NHPs in a toxicology setting, including in/ex vivo techniques (antemortem and postmortem). Demonstrated AbbVie leadership behaviors and experience. Additional Information
