Travel Nurse RN – Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit – $1,852 per week in Asheville, NC
TravelNurseSource is partnering with Magnet Medical to find a qualified CVICU RN in Asheville, North Carolina (postal code 28801). The role will involve providing specialized care to critically ill cardiovascular patients, including those recovering from open‑heart surgery, heart attacks, heart failure, arrhythmias, and other serious cardiac events. The RN will work as part of a multidisciplinary team in a high‑acuity setting.
Key Responsibilities
Patient Assessment:
Perform comprehensive assessments of critically ill patients with cardiovascular conditions, including evaluation of cardiac rhythm, hemodynamics, and vital signs.
Monitor and assess post‑cardiac surgery patients and those who have undergone interventional procedures.
Identify changes in patient condition and act immediately to prevent deterioration.
Critical Care Management:
Administer complex cardiovascular medications and treatments per protocol.
Monitor and adjust invasive monitoring devices such as arterial lines, central venous pressure lines, pulmonary artery catheters and ventilators.
Provide life‑saving interventions in emergencies, such as CPR, intubation and other emergency procedures.
Post‑Operative Care:
Provide intensive monitoring and care for post‑cardiac surgery or catheter‑based procedure patients.
Manage ventilator support and weaning, postoperative drainage, and pain control.
Assess and manage complications such as bleeding, arrhythmias or signs of organ failure.
Collaboration:
Work closely with cardiologists, cardiac surgeons, anesthesiologists, respiratory therapists and other team members to develop and implement patient care plans.
Communicate with patients' families about their condition, prognosis, and next steps in care.
Patient Education:
Educate patients and families on recovery, cardiac health, medications, lifestyle changes and long‑term care needs.
Provide emotional support during critical and recovery phases.
Documentation:
Accurately document assessments, interventions, outcomes and changes in patient status in EMR.
Ensure all procedures and responses are documented to facility and regulatory standards.
Safety & Infection Control:
Adhere to infection control protocols for invasive lines and surgical sites.
Handle and dispose of hazardous materials and medications safely.
Create a clean, safe environment to reduce hospital‑acquired infection risk.
Emergency Response:
Respond quickly to cardiovascular emergencies such as arrhythmias, acute MI or respiratory failure.
Use advanced equipment and collaborate with the team during high‑pressure situations.
Mentorship & Education (if applicable):
Serve as preceptor or mentor to new nursing staff and students in the CVICU.
Participate in continuing education and professional development to stay current with cardiovascular ICU advances.
Requirements
Registered Nurse (RN) with CVICU experience.
