Stepdown Nurse

Job Summary and Responsibilities As a Registered Nurse at CHI St. Vincent in the Stepdown Unit, you will help patients transition from intensive care and achieve optimal health and independence so they can return home safely and confidently. Every day you will provide direct patient care, including medication administration, monitoring vital signs, and managing complex patient needs. You will be expected to collaborate effectively with physicians, other healthcare providers, and patients and their families.
Key Responsibilities
Checking patients’ health status daily and noting any changes or concerns.
Caring for multiple patients during the same shift, often varying in age and condition.
Monitoring patients with life‑saving equipment such as IVs, catheters, feeding tubes, and ventilators.
Providing a comfortable and secure environment for the patient while acting as their advocate.
Benefits and Compensation We are offering a sign‑on bonus up to $25,000 to hires who meet eligibility requirements. Additional pay is available through our clinical ladder, and we offer referral bonuses, excellent benefits, tuition reimbursement, and relocation assistance.
Pay Range: $32.28 – $43.58 per hour.
Benefits include health/dental/vision, FSA, matching retirement plans, paid vacation, adoption assistance, and more.
Job Requirements
Registered Nurse license in good standing; State of Arkansas or compact state license required prior to start date.
12 months of acute care experience (new graduates or nurses who have never worked in an acute care setting are hired through our residency training program).
Previous step‑down and/or ICU experience strongly preferred.
BLS through the American Heart Association required.
ACLS through the American Heart Association required.
