We are hiring for PRN Registered Nurses for our facility. Our RN's are responsible for delivering quality general and psychiatric nursing care to patients who are hospitalized for treatment of psychiatric or emotional disorders, supporting the hospital and program philosophy of care, and ensuring the safety and well-being of each patient by following our clinical guidelines as part of our comprehensive clinical treatment team. We offer 12‑hour shifts from either 7 am‑7 pm day or 7 pm‑7 am night.
Duties
Provide direct care to patients, including facilitating social and emotional needs, supervising medication schedules, and evaluating patient progress.
Collaborate with a variety of interdisciplinary professionals to determine and provide the best possible care for patients.
Maintain a safe environment on the unit.
Provide social support for patients by encouraging participation in support groups and therapeutic activities.
Conduct intake assessments through interviews with patients and relatives.
Plan and provide nursing care for patients.
Make nursing diagnoses and recommend treatment options.
Consult with psychiatrists and behavioral health staff to design appropriate treatment plans.
Administer and document reactions to psychotropic drugs and other medications.
Arrange further medical attention when necessary.
Assist clients in understanding the nature of emotional disturbances and accepting the need for treatment.
Keep accurate written charts and records of patient activities and progress, complying with laws, rules, and protocols.
Use professional judgment to apply appropriate intervention techniques with patients in crisis.
Assist in maintaining a safe and secure environment for staff and patients.
Record vital signs and ensure pain treatment.
Document all patient information on medical charts and follow physician’s written orders.
Maintain patient confidentiality.
Maintain accurate records of immunizations and laboratory results according to standard medical record keeping.
Perform administrative assignments such as filing, answering phones, typing, and completing progress notes in the computer system.
Requirements
Education: ADN or BSN from an accredited college or university.
License: Valid Texas RN license in good standing required. CPR required/BLS certification preferred; candidates must pass a provided CPR course within 30 days of hire.
SAMA certification required; candidates must pass our provided class within 30 days of hire.
Experience: Minimum of 2 years clinical experience, preferably in behavioral healthcare, phone triage, tele‑health, or a combination of education and experience.
Minimum age 21 years old.
Bi‑lingual (English/Spanish) a plus.
Knowledge, skills, and abilities: competent in patient rights, mental health regulations, psychological and pharmacological interventions, crisis intervention, nursing leadership, and effective communication.
Must successfully pass background check, drug screen, physical, and provide positive employment references.

Physical Demands With or without reasonable accommodations, must be able to stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, stand for extended periods, walk, pull, lift, raise and move objects from position to position (up to 50 lb). Light work most of the time, with occasional exertion of up to 20 lb, and medium work up to 50 lb. Perform repetitive wrist, hand, and finger movements. Must be able to perceive and respond to environmental cues and perform tasks requiring sustained attention.
